The College follows the practice of decentralization of power and participative management system.
College principal acts as Head of the Institute. Being highest authority he looks after the overall
administration of the college which includes the administrative, academic, financial and other issues
related to teaching, non teaching staff and students. He acts as a link between the college, state government
and the governing body. An educational institute’s primary duty is related to academic activities. So in the
beginning of each academic session the principal holds staff council meeting and advises faculty members
to discharge their duty sincerely and efficiently. Resolution to that effect is passed in the meeting. The
Principal in consultation with some faculty members forms different committees to make them participate
in the administration of the college.
The Principal appoints Administrative Bursars to help him in matters related to college administration.
Mostly senior faculty member get that task. These bursars not only help the Principal, they also look after
the problems of other staff members and students. They play a major role in college management. He
appoints some Academic Bursars to look after the academic activities of the college. The college has three
streams; science, arts and commerce. Separate Academic Bursars are there for each stream. They are given
the task of keeping an eye over holding regular classes and ensure students attendance. Faculty members
maintain their lesion plan and progress register. The senior most academic bursar checks them from time to
time. Academic Bursars physically verify whether classes are taken or not. If they find any lacuna, they
take the matter to the Principal. Being the highest authority to takes the necessary action.
Similarly the Principal appoints the Account Bursars to look after the financial management of the
college. One of the senior faculty members leads the team with two deputy and two support staffs to assist
him. From the preaparing the salary bill of the employees of the college they maintain all the cash related
records. They cooperate with the Audit team that visits college every year. All financial related issues are
handled by them efficiently. They work in coordination with college administration.
Besides the above mentioned activities the Principal has to look after other issues as well. During the
Student Union Election which is being held just before the puja vacation, he plays a major role. He
constitutes different committee and distributes various tasks among them. From maintaining campus
discipline to final publication of the election result, the faculty members and the Principal to through lot of
activities. If any student unrest takes place in the campus, he tries to solve that in cooperation with other
faculty members. He also gathers feedback from students about the performance of faculty members. If
required, necessary suggestions are given to faculty members for rectification of their manner of duty.
Students enjoy free access to the Principal to discuss about any problem related to their academics.
In this manner, the institution practices decentralization of power and participative management.

Control is important to sustain the institute’s movement towards the attainment of the departmental goals
and action plans. The faculty members are designated with responsibilities charted in the academic
calendar, prepared at the end of each session for the successive one. The progress made by the individual
members is observed and appraised by the Principal and other administrative heads. Entries are made on
basis of such review in the prescribed form of Performance Appraisal by the Principal at the end of the
academic year.
The evaluation of teachers’ performance in an academic year is made with the help of Progress Registers,
Daily Teaching Plan and the Academic Calendar. Contribution to institutional development and research
and co-curricular activities is an important criteria in consideration for assignment of responsibilities. The

Response:
The college is situated in a heavy rainfall area. Therefore, the college is serious about utilizing rainwater
for the multiple purposes. On the college campus, there are tanks. They are located in different places for
storage of rainwater. The selection of different areas for tanks is for widening the catchment area for
maximum rainwater collection. The part of rainwater from the roofs is harvested by accumulating it and
finally collected through a single pipeline directly in the tanks. Some part of water collected and directly
used for the gardening purpose. The rainwater is principally pure water without any dissolved impurities,
so it is considered as distilled water and used for some laboratory perpetrations. There is one recharge pit
for sanitary waste water from the washroom and waste water from three science laboratories viz. Botany,
Chemistry and Zoology. The quality of such rainwater is controlled by diverting initial showering of the
rainy seasons to the garden area, and latter showering is collected for laboratory use. Plumbing
maintenance is done on a regular basis to prevent the wastage of water. There are soak pits for washrooms
and these are connected to municipal drains. So no sanitary waste pollutes the underground water. The

Response:
Best –Practice-I
Objective of monitoring institutional values and best practices is to achieve the vision of the institution i.e
to create an advanced and progressive society without any prejudice with optimum gender equality,
inculcation of human values as its core, perpetual guest for knowledge, promotion of scientific temper to
boost global stewardship and for making education relevant for creating an environment conducive for
sustained inclusive growth. Best practices support main sense of the institution and helps in making
institution work in a more responsible way. Thus our college has undertaken different steps of best
practices conducive to our environment. Innovative the students in many socio economic, political and
cultural activities would bring about innovations in the contemporary education system.
The Context:
This college is a rural based institution where students from soci-economically poor background are
getting admission. The institution taking surroundings in to consideration has taken certain initiative to
make the environment more conducive for learning. Not only progress in academics but establishment of
developed society is the ultimate goal keeping this in view, the college works towards achieving the
objective , students are found to have been inspired towards building a progressive society in cooperating
with the college authority.
The Practice
The institution has been working towards achieving a society of young mass with healthy mind and body.
Holding of regular yoga classes, exercise the gym and participation in different sports activities help the
students in keeping their body healthy. The students are getting moral feedback from the stakeholders as
well as from faculty to inculcate a culture of critical thinking at times advise are invited from he alumni to
inspire the students in academic, cultural and sports activities. Students are advised to take care of the
environment by keeping it clean and maintaining an eco friendly atmosphere. Some enthusiastic students
have taken up the drive to some villagers even. Humanitarian values are kept at pace by the students when
they take initiative to help the children of slum dwellers with pens and books. One of the best practices at
our institution is the utmost discipline that is maintained by our students in creating a peaceful atmosphere.
Though there are antiraging cell, sexual harassment cell and grievance, redressal cell but since years
together there has been no such case found.
Evidence of Success
It’s a matter of great pride the students of Nimapara Autonomous College not only have qualified
themselves for Universities but also have brought recognition to the institution for by getting selection in
National team in volley ball and kabaddi. In body building one of our students has brought honour to this
college by being the champion. Endeavour of our students in making the campus eco friendly has been
acclaimed by the public. Adoption of “Model Village” by our students is bright example of such practice.
Technical assistance to social economically back word students has helped them a lot in pursuance of their
higher studies. Hence the dropout rate has fallen to a considerable rate.
The main problem of this institution is its vast area of land. Its not easy to maintain such a large area with
minimum, resources. As there is no adequate numbers of hostels available for boys and girls students are
opting for communication. They have to reach at the bus stop at fixed time to ride their bus because
number of bus is also limited. This is major problem that the students are facing. The communication
facility to this place is very poor thus its is impossible for them to dedicate much time in other works
beyond academics. Another fact that needs to be described is that the students are from a socially and
economically poor background. They lack awareness about the trends that needs to be given priority.
Faculty members are taking much pain to inculcate an attitude of regularity, sincerity and punctuality
among the students by monitoring the student’s attendance by arranging meetings at their individual
initiative.
Notes:
The motto of this institution is to nurture the potential of students, enabling them and empowering them to
carve their unique path like self growth and self-worth. This institution utilizes experiential learning by
using the method of power point presentations that helps the students organize their thinking process.
Professional skills
Development programmes are being taken up using audio-visual aids & holding talks by the experts.
Yoga has always been a key for leading a healthy life for the students. Physical activities and practice of
yoga like breathing exercise and Surya-Namaskar has helped a lot in the promotion of well-being of
students. The constructive feedback from the faculty as well as the stakeholders, open communication help
to inculcate a culture of critical thinking and holding an in-depth discussion leading to the upliftment of
under privileged members to be self-reliant, career-oriented and to became great leaders. Faculty members
of various departments arrange programmes for students to reach out to the community beyond the
theoretical subject-matter to adopt a practical approach in order to sensitize them towards their moral
responsibilities. This has marked a miraculous effect on the minds of the young students as they are
inspired, in large members, to do public work. Adoption of “Model Villages” by our students is a bright
example of this practice. This college helps its students in taking teaching beyond books and classroom. To
inculcate sensitivity and responsibility towards the environment, students are encouraged to get involved in
the cleanliness drive and plantation programmes arranged by the institution on different occasions. One of
the best practices of our institution is the utmost discipline that is maintained by students in creating a
peaceful atmosphere. Disciplinary committee anti-ragging cell, sexual –harassment cell, and SC/ST and the
OBC cell have been formed to provide justice to each and every section of students. The college has
initiated a number of Programmes such as campus cleaning, plantation , setting up of eco-club for marking
the campus eco-friendly.
Since its inception the college is imparting value based quality Education, creating a pool of
responsible citizens to play a constructive role in nation-building. It aims at bringing socio-economic
change in the society. One of the distinctive features of this college is its student-centric functioning.
Starting from the admission the institution gives importance to merit and equity. Selection for admission is
done by an agency selected by the Govt. of Odisha, Thus making admission impartial and quality-based.
There is an admission committee comprised of teaching and non-teaching members to advise amateur
students regarding their subject of choice and pursuit of career. The students are individually counseled and
allowed to take subjects of their choice and interest. As this is a rural-based college and most of the
students belong to the unprivileged class, the institution takes special care for chose students and make
monetary arrangements to provide economical assistance to them. Flow of funds from corporate sectors
like Reliance Jio and tech. Mahindra and State Bank of India provide financial assistance to the
unprivileged students for their career development. Feed-back from beneficiaries is collected from time-to-
time at a regular basis. Students feed back get reviewed from time-to-time. It has been a healthy practice in
this institution to review the action plans on a weekly basis as suggested by IQAC. Necessary steps are
taken accordingly after each review for smooth implementation of action plans.
Another best practice of this institution is introduced of short-term courses for skill
development. Language Lab training, training for spoken English, coaching for competitive examinations
have been taken up for skill development of students. Faculty members take extra care in working towards
the accomplishment of the aforementioned activities.
Best –Practice-II
Objectives of the Practice: Foundation Day is traditionally a very important day in the college calendar
when members of the college community – students, management, staff and guests from the society – meet
The context: Every year the 27th of July is earmarked as the Foundation day of the institution.
The Practice: The college has been celebrating ‘Foundation Day ’ since the beginning. The
celebrations begin with blood donation, plantation, campus cleaning, seminar and finally the cultural
programme.
Evidence of Success: An atmosphere of celebration fills the college when the students and teachers gather
to celebrate the Foundation Day. There is active reporting in the local media who cover it widely. Many
pictures of the celebrations throughout the week are displayed in the college magazine.
Problems encountered and Resources required: The long logistics involves student and teacher
participation. All committees are actively involved in their responsibilities. This curtails the speed of study
Response:
The Primary objective of this institution is to import value based quality education, to create a pool of
responsible citizens who will work in a constructive way for the benefit of the society. This institution
envisions a society advanced and progressive without any prejudice. In order to bring about nationalistic
feelings among our students, several national days are observed on the specified days. Before the
commencement of the observation days, debate, essay, education and quiz competition are arranged.
Active participation of maximum number of students in the mentioned competitions signifies their interest
in nation building. The departments take special care to inculcate social responsibilities among the students
regarding gender equality, environmental pollution and other matters of social importance by arranging
group discussions, competitions and workshops. Our aim is to make students responsible and conscious not
only theoretically but also on a practical foot. To achieve our objective students are encouraged to
participate in extra-curricular activities like music, dance, debate, education, quiz essay and fine arts. The
writing skills of the students are acknowledge through the publication of magazine and wall-magazines.
Regional writing (Odia Literature) has a prominent place in both the college and departmental wall
magazines. Some of the students of the institution have participated in music and dance competitions of
regional T.V. channels and have brought laurels. The faculties take extra care to ensure discipline inside
the college premises. A disciplinary committee comprised of senior faculty members has been formed to
look after the maintenance of an atmosphere of ambience inside the campus. Welcome and Farewell
ceremonies are arranged by the students of all departments at the beginning and ending of every academic
year to maintain a relationship of love and care between the senior and junior students .successful students
get felicitated at the Annual Day Function. Nimapara (Auto) College Website reflect the name and
photographs of students securing highest marks in their subjects and this has been done to inspire the future
group of students. To develop interest in science, science- exhibitions are arranged every year by the
departments with a handful number of students participating in it.
Craze for sports and games are always common with the students of this area. They have a special interest
in Kabaddi and Cricket. Tournaments are organized every year to develop interest among the enthusiastic
students to participate. Hence the college takes all the initiative to discover and develop the intellectual and
physical skills of the students. To improve communication competency and cultural conscience that would
help the students in developing a positive approach, confidence and an all-round development in body and
mind, this institute serves as a training base. Here academic and cultural activities go together. Science
society and Commerce Society held their competitions separately. College Union for students organize
different competitions. Not only competitions but students, in large number do participate in the cultural
events in the Annual Functions as well as in Science and Commerce Society Function. Sand Art and Fine
Art are the specially of our students . One of our students (doing [Link] now) is working as a
choreographer in Odia movies and Regional T.V. Serial . As this college is surrounded by archeological
monuments, some students along with one our faculty of History departments are working in this field.
The college invites Sahitya Academy Award winners, Poets, Scientists, academicians and politician to
interact with the students.
There is no doubt that students centric functioning of the college will add new feathres of success to this
institution every year.
