Fire Extinguishing System

 General Description
CO 2 is a colorless, odorless, electrically nonconductive gas that is a suitable medium for extinguishing
fires. When a fire is detected, the CO 2 suppression system will activate and discharge CO 2 into the area
where the fire is present. The CO 2 displaces the oxygen in the environment which will cause the fire to be
extinguished.
On large hazards where several cylinders are required, a manifold is used to connect each cylinder by
means of flexible hoses and check valves. Cylinder valves control the CO 2 flow to the hazard through
properly sized pipe, terminating in nozzles that apply the CO 2 . Flow rate is controlled by nozzle orifices
as well as pipe sizes. The master cylinder valves can be automatically and/or manually operated.
