today?"

“Wow, very good because everybody

is present.”
B. Explore

Teacher's Activity Pupil's Activity

"So before we proceed to our topic I

have here a group activity.”

“Group 1 list down 2 kinds of

biodegradable waste.”
"Junk"
“Group 2 list down 2 kinds of non-
biodegradable wastes.” "Trash or garbage Sir."
“So, I guess everyone is ready please
go to your assigned groups and do
your work quietly.

I will give you 4 minutes to finish

your activity and present it after.

“Are we clear” ?
“Yes sir!
“Very Good.”

(after 10 minutes)

Okay class time is up, the group 1

will be the first one to present.

Group 1: Biodegradable Waste

Ric: Good morning everyone this is

the report of the group one.

So we have here a two kinds of

biodegradable waste.

Paper- Paper can be considered a

waste when it is no longer needed or
usable, such as when it has been
used for its intended purpose and is
discarded. This can include paper
products such as office paper,
newspapers, magazines, cardboard,
and packaging materials.

Leaves- Leaves can be considered a

“Okay, very good!” waste if they are no longer needed or
usable, such as when they have
Thank you group 1 fallen from trees and are removed
from lawns or gardens.

“Okay let’s proceed to the group

two.”
Group 2: Non-biodegradable Waste

Ercel: Good morning everyone this is

the report of the group two.

So we have here a two kinds of non-

biodegradable waste.

Plastic- is a major environmental

concern as it is not biodegradable
and can persist in the environment
for hundreds of years.
“Okay, very good!” Rubber- waste refers to materials
made of natural or synthetic rubber
Thank you group 2 that are no longer usable or needed,
such as worn-out tires, rubber tubing,
conveyor belts, or other rubber-
based products.

C. Explanation

Teacher's Activity Pupil's Activity

"So our topic for today is all about

The Proper Disposal of Wastes."

"So class let us first define what is

waste”

"Waste (or wastes) are unwanted or

unusable materials. Waste is any
substance discarded after primary
use, or is worthless, defective and of
no use.”

“Me sir”
“There are two classifications of
wastes, who can tell what are these
two classifications? Klhency: “The biodegradable and
non-biodegradable Sir.”
“Okay, Klhency what are these two
classifications?

“Very good, so class the two

classifications of wastes are the
biodegradable and non-
biodegradable”.

“I have here a two trash bin the bio

and non-biodegradable.”

“Biodegradable, Non-biodegradable”

“Can you read the label”

“Biodegradable wastes are those that

decompose. These include plant
cuttings, dry leaves, food leftovers,
seeds, and used paper while Non-
biodegradable wastes are those that
take a long time to decompose like “Yes Sir.”
plastics.”
“Used paper envelop”

“Carton boxes Sir”

“Class, do you follow?”
“Metal can”
“So class give me another example
of wastes that falls into “Bottles”
biodegradable”. “Metal scraps”

“Very good, how about for non-

biodegradable wastes?

“Okay everybody is very good”.

“So class did you know that Wastes

materials accumulate when they are
not properly disposed of. They
become a threat to human health.
Wastes become breeding places of
flies, rats, and other disease-carrying
“There will be a flood Sir.”
organisms.”

“When these wastes are dumped in

bodies of water, they contaminate
the water and clog the waterways.”

“So what do you think will happen if

the water ways are clogged?

“Yes it is true so in order to prevent

these things from happening, our
wastes must be disposed of
properly.”

“There are different ways of

disposing waste materials properly.
One way is by composting
biodegradable wastes.”

“Composting is a Process of turning

biodegradable materials into odorless
and safe organic fertilizer. The
process is made possible by the
action of microorganisms called
decomposers.”

“Another way of disposing wastes

materials properly is through
Recycling.”
“Recycling is the process of collecting
and processing materials (that would
otherwise be thrown away as trash)
and re-manufacturing them into new
products. Creating an art from
recycled materials example; recycled
coffee cups, chair , and even pen
organizer.
“Yes Sir”
“Lastly is to segregate our wastes put
it in the right place.” “ Throw it properly and do follow the
different ways in disposing it.”
“Proper disposal of human waste is
important to avoid pollution of water
sources, avoid the negative
implications of someone else finding
it, minimize the possibility of
spreading disease and maximize the
rate of decomposition.”

“So class did you understand the

topic?”

“Again what should we do about our

wastes?”

D. Elaborate

“So class I have here a situational “Okay Sir”

questions all you have to do is to
answer it based on what you have
learn earlier.”

“I will tell him to pick it up and put it

in the non-biodegradable trash can,
“Okay, Apple if you have a friend and
Sir.”
saw him throw his candy wrap in the
floor. What would you tell him?
“Very good, Apple”.

“Okay, Heart you visited your “I will ask him if I can ask him to give
brother’s apartment and observed to me so that I can make an art
that he has a lot of recyclable wastes. made from this materials.
What would you do?

“Very good, Heart that is being

resourceful and creative.

“Biodegradable and non-

“So class to sum up our topic we
biodegradable, Sir”.(All students)
should always remember to observe
proper waste disposal, observing
proper waste disposal practices is
essential to protect public health,
safeguard the environment, conserve
natural resources, and improve
community well-being. Again there
are two types of waste and these
are?
