Project Guidelines
Guideline for Project Selection
• Compose a dynamic team who has diverse knowledge in
(market targeting, technical and task analysis.
• Select a leader who can direct the team toward successful
product development.
• Select a material good product (commodity) not a
service.
• The product should be evident of existence in the market
and there is a need for it.
• The product should be an attractive opportunity for
business; however may not high economic potential.
• The product could be produced and technologically
applicable.

Guidelines for Project Activities
1)Product Analysis
1. Product description: provide a brief description of the
product.
2. Market analysis: determine quantity to be produced.
3. Product design: Develop product drawing and specification
using reverse engineering for the selected product, find Part
list, Part structure, provide the level of product parts and
subassemblies, Assembly chart, provide the assembly
sequence of the parts, Assembly drawings/exploded
drawing, Detailed drawing including all dimensions,
material calculating, and any production requirements.

2)Production Analysis
[Link]: provide the decision to be taken for production.
Include
a) Make / buy decision:
b) Technology decision:
c) Mode of production decision:
[Link] Analysis: determine data of the processes sequence and
time:
a) Production routing sheets:
b) Operation (outline process) chart:
c) Assembly activity table and precedence diagram:
[Link] analysis: find the size of the facility and material
requirement. Determine:
a) The actual quantities:
b) The raw material requirement:
c) The number of production/assembly work stations:
d) The number of labors:
10
[Link] handling analysis: find the required handling equipment:
a) Suggest handling methodology:
b) Handling selection:
c) Handling capacity:
[Link] production operations: develop required supporting
facilities: Quality facility; Maintenance facility; Waste facility;
Safety facility; Other facility.
[Link] planning sheet: This sheet represents flow process charts
and include all data developed in previous sections
11
3)Layout analysis
[Link]: provide:
a) Organization chart:
b) The relation between departments.
[Link] determination: Departments' areas should be determined
(production, storage, offices, shipping and receiving, services).
[Link] analysis: find initial arrangement between
departments.: Layout design: develop complete layout and
specification: Detailed layout drawing; general specifications
requirement; such as height, utilities, accesses, etc.
[Link] Analysis: determine the cost of product, rate of return, capital
recovery, etc.
