GUIDELINES & MECHANICS FOR BHS PAROL-MAKING CONTEST 2024

In celebration of the 27th Foundation Day and observance of the National Environment Awareness
Month, the YES-O & Science Club of Binanuaanan High School will be spearheading this year’s PAROL-
MAKING CONTEST. With the theme, Our Environment. Our Future, below are the guidelines and mechanics:

1. Each section should have one (1) PAROL entry personally made by the learners from the class.
2. The PAROL must be 3 feet in diameter including the outer appendages/extremities.
3. The PAROL should be made using indigenous material (1) that are available in your locality. However,
the use of plastics (recycled or not) is NOT allowed.
4. Use of paints, spray paints, and any commercially-made colorant is highly discouraged.
5. Commercially made PAROLS are not allowed and will be disqualified.
6. The parol-making process should be properly documented (photos and/or videos) and submitted to the
YES-O Coordinator’s facebook page (Sugar Madara Bañaria). Failure to submit documentation shall be
deducted ten (10) points from the total score.
7. PAROL entries should be displayed and hanged outside the classroom on or before November 18, 2024,
5:00 PM.

(1) Indigenous materials – refers to materials that are naturally and locally found in a specific place
such as timbers, abaca, canes, grass, palms, rattan, capiz, pearls, corals, and seashells. - Wikipedia

Criteria for Judging

Creativity and Originality 20%


(Expression of unique style and interpretation of the art form.)

Craftsmanship 30%
(The quality of design and work shown in something made by hand.)

Interpretation of the Theme 20%


(Adherence to guidelines and mechanics)

Overall impact and aesthetics 20%

Online Votes 10%


(Photos of the PAROL entries will be posted online through the YES-O & Science Club of BHS
FACEBOOK Page on November 18, 2024, 7:00 PM. The 10% of the score will come from the number
of
votes, i.e. reaction & share buttons garnered by each entry.)
