Health Disparities
Health disparities refer to the difference in healthcare that one population receives in
contrast with another (Buchbinder & Shanks, 2016). One of the groups facing health disparities
is the elderly. My goal would be to give them the information necessary to inform them of the
options they have.
Total Medicare enrollment as of 2021 63, 964, 675 ([Link]).
43% of eligible Medicare enrollees are not enrolled (n.d. [Link])
An average of 16.5% of the population is 65 years and over in the US. (n.d.
[Link])
Overall aging populates is growing it increased a 38% from 2010 to 2020 (n.d.
[Link])
Phone lines need to be opened to help and inform the elderly.
Resources to help them enroll in different programs without taking advantage of
them.
The organization that can help us make a change either by guiding us or expanding care
is Kaiser Permanente. They offer high-quality, affordable healthcare services (n.d.
[Link].). The Kaiser Permanente model offers different benefits. Their care
model enables the team to work as one, members have access to a healthcare professional 24/7
either by phone or video, and they focus on members' total care (n.d. [Link]). This
organization provides the best care for their members and the elderly across America should
have the same benefits. Friendly, affordable, and approachable services to have the best care they
need in their retirement years.
