Tutorial 1
Mesh and Nodal Analysis
1. Determine current in 5 Ω resistor using mesh analysis (see Figure 1).[Ans 3.35A]

Figure 1 Figure 2
2. Determine the current in the 4 Ω branch in the circuit shown in Figure
2.[Ans 4.111A]

3. Apply loop current method to find loop currents in the circuit (see Figure

4. Find the branch current in the circuit of Figure 4 by using (i) nodal analysis and
(ii) Loop or mesh analysis. Resistances are in Ohms.[Ans 2/9A, 14/9 A,
7/12A, 4/3A 23/12A ]
5. Using nodal voltage method, find the magnitude and direction of current I 10ohm
in the network of Figure 5.[Ans 3.171A]

6. Using the technique of super-node analysis, calculate the voltage across the 10
Ω resistor in the current of Figure 6. Also Using Mesh analysis find voltage
across 10 ohm resistor. [Ans 96V]

7. Find the power loss in the resistors of the network of Figure 7. Use nodal
analysis.[Ans 29.74W,2.677W,29.154W 41.326W]
