LESSON PLAN
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard Classifying substances as elements or compounds
B. Performance Standard Make a chart, poster, or multimedia presentation of common elements
showing their names, symbols, and uses
C. Learning Competencies / Recognize that substances are classified into elements and compounds.
Objectives (Write the code for S7MT-Ig-h5

Everybody stand, let us pray. (The student will stand up)
a. Prayer Kindly, lead the prayer… Let us bow our heads and feel
the presence of our lord, Oh
God….
Amen!
Good evening, class! Good evening, Ma’am.
b. Greetings Okay, before you sit down, kindly pick up the pieces (the student will execute the
of paper under your chair and then sit properly said task)
afterwards.
Since, everyone has been seated. I want you to clap
(The student will clap 5x)

Elements are complete chemical substances that
relate to a single entry in the modern periodic table.
Elements consist of one kind of atom only. They
cannot be broken down into simpler fragments and
can exist as atoms or as molecules.
Yes, ma’am!
Are you still with me?
(The students will clap 5x)
Give me 5 claps.
What about compounds?
Will you read the slides, (name of student)?
(The student will read the
Compounds are chemical substances made up of two slide)
or more elements that are chemically bound together
in a fixed ratio.
When two or more elements chemically combine in a
fixed ratio by mass, the obtained product is known as
a compound. Compounds can be defined as
substances consisting of 2 or more different types of
elements in a fixed ratio of atoms. When the
elements combine, some individual property of the
elements is lost and the newly formed compound has
new properties.

e. Discussion of new In this point in time let us now identify the
concepts and substances whether it is an element or a compounds.
practicing new skills
But before that we will have an activity.
#2
I will be provided you an envelope and inside that, it
(7 minutes)
has a strip of paper with chemical elements and
compounds. With the same group, all you have to do
is to paste them in the chart that I have provided.
In the chart, there is a plenty of box shape and you
are going to paste the strip of paper corresponding to
which classification of pure substances they are and
you can identify it based on the definition that we
have discussed about elements and compounds.
I will give you 3 minutes to paste it and after the
three minutes you’re going to explain why do you
think that those strip of paper is an element or a
compound?

f. Developing mastery Since, we already know the difference between
elements and compounds and we also identify
(3 minutes)
whether the substance is element or a compounds.
Okay, what can you say about the video that you’ve
watched?
Yes, (name of students).
Expected Answer:
main@[Link]
The video is all about the
importance and uses of
elements and compounds.
That’s right.
Very good!
Is it easy to identify whether the substance is an Expected Answer:
element and compounds? Yes ma’am, we can identify
elements if the substance is a
simple chemical elements and
that is found in the periodic
table. And in compounds we
can easily identify it if it
consists of 2 or more
elements.
Alright, it seems like you have your learnings in
today’s discussion.
