 INTRODUCTION

Climate change is one of the most pressing global challenges of our time, affecting ecosystems,
economies, and societies around the world. Driven largely by human activities, such as fossil fuel
consumption, deforestation, and industrial processes, climate change has led to increased global
temperatures, extreme weather events, and shifts in natural systems. These environmental changes
are not only impacting physical landscapes and wildlife but are also having significant effects on
human health, livelihoods, and community resilience.

The purpose of the "Survey on the Impact of Climate Change" is to gather insights into public
perceptions, personal experiences, and behavioural responses related to climate change. By
analysing these survey responses, we aim to understand how individuals from diverse backgrounds
view climate change, identify what they perceive as its primary causes, and learn about the specific
impacts they’ve observed in their own lives and communities.

This survey also sheds light on the concerns people hold for future generations, their sources of
climate-related information, and their willingness to take action to reduce carbon footprints. The
findings from this survey provide valuable information for policymakers, educators, and climate
advocates working to increase awareness, promote sustainable practices, and foster a culture of
environmental responsibility. Through understanding public opinion and behaviour, this survey
contributes to the broader efforts to address and mitigate the impacts of climate change on a global
scale.

SURVEY ANALYSIS
Sample Size: 65+ responses

Overview
This report summarizes responses from a survey titled “Impact of Climate Change,” exploring
perceptions, personal impacts, and behavioural patterns related to climate change. The survey
primarily gathers data from young adults, focusing on how they understand and react to climate
change issues. Key themes include personal beliefs about climate change causes, observed impacts,
willingness to act, and primary concerns for future generations.

1. Demographics

The survey sample consists predominantly of younger adults:

• Age Group: The majority are in the 18-34 age range, signifying a focus on young adults, likely
within early career stages or academia.

• Gender: The survey includes mixed gender representation, providing balanced insights across
demographic groups.

• Profession: Most respondents identify as students, suggesting an academic demographic that

might be more engaged or educated about climate-related topics.

2. Perceptions of Climate Change

The responses reveal varied levels of awareness and concern regarding climate change:
 • Belief in Personal Impact: Responses are divided, with some stating climate change has
significantly impacted their lives, while others note only minor changes. This mixed view
indicates that while awareness exists, perceived personal impact varies.

• Primary Cause: A majority believe that human activities are the primary cause of climate
change, though a small number of respondents disagree, suggesting ongoing debates in
understanding causes.

• Information Sources: Social media is the most common source of climate change
information, followed by insights from friends and family. This preference for informal sources
could indicate either a lack of formal education on climate change or a greater trust in peer-
shared information.

3. Observations and Health Impacts

Respondents provided insights into the physical and health-related changes they associate with
climate change:

• Wildlife Changes: Many respondents report noticing behavioural changes in wildlife around
them, likely due to environmental shifts linked to climate change.

• Health Impacts: Respiratory problems and illnesses related to extreme heat are common
issues mentioned. This trend suggests an awareness of the health ePects directly associated
with climate change, particularly those impacting vulnerable populations.

4. Concerns for Future Generations

The respondents exhibit high levels of concern for the long-term impacts of climate change:

• Future Impact: A significant majority believe that future generations will face far greater
impacts from climate change, reflecting widespread concern for intergenerational ePects.

• Climate Change Education: Most respondents support the inclusion of climate change
education in school curricula, indicating a belief that early education on the topic could foster
greater awareness and responsiveness in society.

5. Willingness to Act

Behavioural responses reveal moderate to high levels of willingness to take personal action to combat
climate change:

• Current Actions: Respondents engage in actions like reducing energy use at home and
utilizing public transportation to lower their carbon footprint. This reflects an awareness of
personal responsibility in combating climate change, although the frequency of such actions is
moderate.

• Barriers to Awareness: Complexity in climate science and perceived insuPicient government

or organizational initiatives were cited as barriers to awareness. These responses suggest that
simpler communication and greater institutional involvement could enhance climate change
education and action.

6. Primary Concerns
Respondents outlined key areas of concern regarding climate change impacts on future generations:

• Environmental Degradation: Environmental issues such as deforestation and loss of

biodiversity are top concerns, reflecting an awareness of the ecological impacts.

• Economic and Health Risks: Economic instability, such as potential job losses and health
risks like disease spread and heat-related illnesses, are frequently cited worries. These
concerns suggest a broad understanding of climate change’s potential to aPect multiple
aspects of life beyond the environment.

Conclusion
The survey responses indicate an informed, concerned, and moderately proactive audience primarily
composed of young adults and students. These individuals are generally aware of the causes and
ePects of climate change and are interested in further education and stronger institutional support to
combat it. Key areas of focus for future outreach and policy might include simplifying climate science
for broader understanding, integrating climate education into formal curricula, and enhancing
government and organizational roles in climate action.

This report highlights the significance of addressing climate change impacts, not only for current
generations but also with a strong emphasis on protecting future ones.
