Course Description: This course provides an overview of the
major literary works written in English by
Filipino authors. It examines the historical,
cultural, and social contexts that have shaped
Philippine literature, as well as the themes,
styles, and techniques employed by writers.
Through the study of various literary forms
such as poetry, fiction, drama, and essays,
students will gain insight into the diverse
voices and perspectives within Philippine
literature.
Program Learning Outcomes At the end of the program, Bachelor of
Secondary Education Major in English
students should be able to:
1. Demonstrate the ability to analyze
complex issues, evaluate evidence,
and construct well-reasoned
arguments.

Course Learning Outcomes: At the end of this course, the students should
be able to:

literature in English, including

events, and cultural movements.
2. Analyze and interpret selected works
of Philippine literature in English,
identifying key themes, literary
techniques, and stylistic elements
employed by Filipino authors.
3. Recognize the diverse cultural
influences and perspectives reflected
in Philippine literature, including
indigenous traditions, Spanish colonial
legacies, and contemporary global
influences.
4. Communicate their analyses and
interpretations effectively through
written essays, oral presentations, and
class discussions, demonstrating
clarity, coherence, and organization in
their expression.
5. Reflect on their own identities, beliefs,
and experiences in relation to the
themes and issues explored in
Philippine literature, fostering
