Today I’m going to explain how we can help sea turtles

How can we help sea turtles?

First, some species are already going extinct because of pollution.

Unless we act now, sea turtles might disappear.
Turtles often mistake plastic for food.
The consequences are devastating, as turtles ingest the plastic,
leading to severe health issues.

Secondly, it’s very important that we clean up plastic in the oceans.

Turtles get their flippers stuck in plastic which injures them.
My friends and I created an association called “Save the turtles”
We’ve created a refuge for injured turtles where we provide care and
feed them.
Once healed, we release them back into the sea.

Thirdly, we raise awareness about sea turtles and we welcome

volunteers to assist in turtle protection activities.
We also place signs around turtle nests to prevent people from
walking on them.
Some peoples donate money to our association. We use this money
to buy them medical care.

As a result, the Earth will be less polluted and turtles will no longer be
in danger.

To sum up, if we act now, we can prevent turtles from becoming

extinct.

Thanks for listening, I hope you enjoyed my presentation.

Cleaning ocean plastic addresses immediate conservation goals by reducing the immediate danger of ingestion and entanglement for sea turtles, while creating refuges for injured turtles and rehabilitating them supports long-term goals by enabling population recovery. Together, these strategies help maintain sea turtle populations and improve ecosystem health over time .

Public involvement through volunteering and donations significantly contributes to sea turtle conservation efforts by supporting protection activities and providing financial means for necessary medical care. Volunteers assist in direct action measures like securing turtle nests and raising awareness, while donations are used to buy medical supplies, ensuring proper care for injured turtles .

Preventing people from walking on turtle nests is crucial because disturbance can destroy the eggs or prevent them from hatching. Signs play a fundamental role in this preventive measure as they inform and remind people of the presence of turtle nests, thereby reducing the likelihood of accidental interference .

The ingestion of plastic severely affects sea turtle health by blocking their digestive systems, leading to malnutrition or starvation. It can also cause internal injuries or toxic exposure from the chemicals in plastic. Long-term repercussions include declining health, reduced reproduction rates, and increased mortality, all contributing to population decline .

Raising awareness is vital for conservation efforts as it educates and engages the public, leading to increased support and involvement in protective actions. It can be effectively implemented through educational campaigns, community programs, and social media outreach to change public behavior and inspire participation in conservation initiatives .

If sea turtles were to become extinct, it could lead to significant disruptions in marine ecosystems. Sea turtles help maintain healthy seagrass beds and coral reefs, which provide habitat for other marine life. The loss of sea turtles could therefore result in the decline of these ecosystems, negatively affecting biodiversity and the balance of marine environments .

Protective measures for sea turtle nests, such as signage and monitored nesting areas, contribute to population recovery by ensuring that more hatchlings reach the sea. This increases the survival rate of young turtles, which is essential for balancing adult turtle mortality and supporting the recovery of population numbers .

Community involvement through associations like 'Save the turtles' enhances conservation strategies by bringing together resources, people, and efforts focused on protecting sea turtles. It fosters collaboration, builds a support network, and mobilizes volunteers and donors, which enhances the capacity to carry out effective and sustained conservation actions .

The 'Save the turtles' association aids in sea turtle conservation by creating a refuge for injured turtles where they provide care and feed them. Once healed, the turtles are released back into the sea. The association also engages in raising awareness about the threats to sea turtles, welcoming volunteers for protection activities, placing signs around turtle nests to prevent disturbance, and using donations to fund medical care for the turtles .

The primary threats causing some sea turtle species to face extinction are pollution and plastic waste in the oceans. Sea turtles often mistake plastic for food, leading to ingestion, which causes severe health issues. Additionally, turtles can get their flippers entangled in plastic, resulting in injuries. These factors significantly impact their health and reduce their chances of survival .
