8. Course description: The course aims to provide knowledge related to corporate
financial management in the international business context. The content emphasizes two
main parts:
(1) Macro-economics: the conceptual frameworks of macro-economic and the
institutional foundations in the international financial environment; the roles/
impacts of these institutions/ factors on foreign exchange rate fluctuations; and
the foreign exchange forecasting techniques and tools
(2) International financial management: issues and opportunities of
multinational companies in international financial markets, knowledge of foreign
exchange derivatives (such as forward/ future/ option/ swaps contract) as well
as foreign exchange risk management.
9. Course Learning Outcomes - CLOs:

After finish the Multinational Financial Management course, students are able to meet
the following learning outcomes:
9.1 Knowledge
- CLO1.1: Present international business - based conceptual frameworks, such as
the international monetary system and international parity theories; and analyze
the international economic activities of a nation through the balance of
payments.
- CLO1.2: Identify the macro-economic factors and institutional foundations in the
international financial environment, and explain their effects/ roles on foreign
exchange rate fluctuation
- CLO1.3: Present exchange rate forecasting tools and techniques
- CLO1.4: Analyze issues and opportunities in foreign currency management of
multinational corporations within international financial markets
- CLO1.5: Distinguish between foreign exchange derivatives (such as forward,
futures, options, and swaps contracts).
- CLO1.6: Propose appropriate foreign exchange hedging strategies for importers
or exporters by using foreign exchange derivatives most effectively and
efficiently.
9.2 Skills
- CLO2.1: Communication skill: students work in groups and independently - such
as discussing, presenting, listening, and making questions - during the course.
- CLO2.2: Forecasting skill: students can apply knowledge, methods, and tools
used in exchange rate prediction.
- CLO2.3: Critical thinking and problem-solving skills: students are able to
evaluate the pros and cons of each solution (related to foreign exchange
derivatives), to make appropriate decisions for hedging or speculation purposes.
- CLO2.4: Creative thinking skills: students can design hedging strategies in
different situations (exporter/importer)

12. Student workload:
Students are responsible for participating in classes sufficiently (at least 80% class
hours). Especially, read the assigned materials before coming to the class, and practice
exercise (at class and home) are also necessary.
