Fill in the template as per the instructions in it.
In addition to the instructions on the template, you should understand that ultimately,
we are really looking to see that you have critically thought about your original
choices in the multiple choice assignment with the benefit of all of the stuff you have
read – both the theory and any discussions. Now obviously all of this reading might
have done 3 things:
Put you to sleep – it will really help us improve the module if you explain
this to us;
Confirmed your original views – in this case we are looking for “Notes”
which indicate how certain of the theory or discussions have reinforced
your original views.
Changed your original views – in this case we are looking for “Notes” which
explain how theory or discussions have forced you to re-think your world
view.
In all cases be specific - which theories, which discussions. If we don't see
references to theory and other discussions, it is highly unlikely that you will get more
than 60% for this assignment.
Besides these things, you might also have comments on the questions or options
themselves.
In terms of all these notes, we are really not looking for a "Note" on every single one
of the questions unless your world has really totally shifted. We would rather have a
good quality note on a handful – at least 10 – than a rubbish note (e.g. "I changed
my mind") on all 20.
Finally, please don't forget to do a good conclusion. A good conclusion will really
make a huge difference to your mark.

Portfolio- Assignment 9
I’d like to just provide some guidance for your portfolios. Remember these counts 20%
of your total mark and I’d really like you to blow our socks off on this one. In the
portfolio we are really looking to see that you have critically thought about your
original choices in the multiple-choice assignment with the benefit of all of the stuff
you have read – both the theory and any discussions. So, we ask you to do the MCQ’s
again, and then to compare your opinions now with your opinions then. Now obviously all
of this reading might have done 3 things:
1. Put you to sleep – if this was the case, this is your chance to let us have it
(so to speak). Remember if your opinions are well supported, you will get
good marks irrespective of what those opinions are;
2. Confirmed your original views – in this case we are looking for “Notes” which
indicate how certain of the theory or discussions have reinforced your
original views.
3. Changed your original views – in this case we are looking for “Notes” which
explain how theory or discussions have forced you to re-think your world
view.

We are not changing the format of the template.
Fill in the relevant information.
Remember to delete instructions, checklist and the information in red
after question 20. This should be done after you have read,
understood and done what is required of you to do. Deleting of the
instructions and checklist should be the last thing before saving the
document and submission.
The note should not be too long but should contain the key points as
well as clear and meaningful arguments.
We are looking for quality not quantity of the notes; however, it
should include all the important points. Try to summarise in as much
as possible. You should comment at least 10 of them.
You do not include bibliography, it's just a note/summary of why you
have changed, or you have not changed your option. Support your
reasoning by using information from the learning units, discussions and
personal research on ethical issues.
The following is any example of how to write a notes:
1. “The assets of the three richest people in the world match the combined
annual GDP’s of the 48 poorest countries.” My opinion on this statement is
most closely described by:
a). Good for them – they worked hard to get their wealth
b). The only problem I have with this is that this money is in their bank
account and not in mine
c). No problem with this – many of these people give huge amounts to charities
d). I think that it is morally wrong for anyone to have that much money
e). I think that active steps should be taken to correct such immoral wealth
imbalances

Choice in assignment 1: A. Good for them – they worked hard to get their

Notes: Explain why you changed your opinion from A to E. You need to support
your answer with the knowledge gained throughout the study of Ethical
concepts like Deontology, Consequentialism, Egoism, Distributive
justice, Greenies, Sustainability and Greed. If for example your original
answer was A, and you are still sticking to A, tell us why you didn't change
your opinion.
Do the same for Question 2 up to 20

I hope all is well. Silence means you are on track to complete your
portfolios.
Portfolio due date is on the 10th of May. Please let's all make progress
towards completing our portfolios. Please remember this is the killer bullet
for your final mark, hence we need to gather as much information as
possible and present our ideas logically and meaningfully.
Marks will be awarded based on the following:
There is both answer for assignment 1 and current answer for all the
20 MCQs
Length of the notes
Substance/quality of the notes
Arguments are logically presented
There is reference to philosophical ethical theories i.e Deontology,
Consequentialism-Utilitarianism. Egoism, Distributive justice-Rawls’
ideas and veil of ignorance. greenies and above all reference to
Sustainability and greed
Comprehensiveness of the conclusion-highlighting key issues and
showing reflection on answers.
Finally the use of clear language, visible font and general outlay of
the portfolio.
I do not think you need to be reminded of plagiarism again .
