Okra

Okra is a vegetable that is also known as lady finger. It is green, pod-like vegetable with a sticky
texture and a sweet, earthy flavor. It is used in various cuisines, particularly in
African,Caribbean, and southern American cooking.

 Varieties of okra:

There are several varieties of okra are:

1. sabz pari

2. Pusa sawani

3. Arka anamika

4. Green wonder

5. Sharmili (evergreen)

 Okra growth in Pakistan:


Okra is grown in several provinces of [Link] is commonly cultivated in
Punjab,Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and balochistan. These regions provide suitable conditions
for the growth of okra ,including warm temperature fertile soil.

 Area and production:


● In Pakistan 15529 hectare area is under cultivation with the production of okra is 118986
tons

● Major okra growing cities of Pakistan are Multan, D.G Khan, Rahim yar khan, Faisalabad,
Rawalpindi,Gujranwala, Vehari, Okara, and Toba Tek Singh.

 Export and Import:


Pakistan exports okra (ladyfinger) to various countries around the world. Major export okra

imports are generally minimal compared to its exports. If there are any imports, they might come

and taste. Some of the commonly grown varieties include:

•Black Beauty: This variety produces large, dark purple fruits that are oval-shaped.
•Round Purple: These brinjal are round and have a deep purple color.

•Long Purple: This variety has elongated, slender fruits that are deep purple.
•White Brinjal: These brinjal are oval-shaped and have a white or cream-colored.
•Green Brinjal: These have a light green skin and can be either round or elongated.

•Varieties Striped or Bicolored: Some brinjal have a distinctive striped In Pakistan, brinjal
(eggplant) is grown in several provinces.

Brinjal is grown in several provinces of Pakistan. It is commonly cultivated in Punjab, Sindh,

of urinal, including warm temperature, adequate moisture and well|-drained soil. Punjab is the
producer of urinal in Pakistan. Sindh also produces a significant amount of brinjal.
