Project Description:

The Cleaner Greener Community project seeks to tackle waste management challenges and

composting techniques, and recycling practices.

● Trash-to-Cash Program: Encouraging households to recycle waste materials and convert them

into monetary value.

Target Beneficiaries:

incentives from recycling programs.

2. Youth and Students

Statement of the Problem:

Brgy. Matandang Sabang Kanluran is facing significant environmental challenges, primarily

stemming from improper waste management and a lack of sustainable practices. These issues have led

to the following concerns:

1. Accumulation of Waste in Public Spaces:

○ Streets and public areas are often littered with trash, creating an unsightly and unhygienic

environment.
○ Improper disposal of waste increases the risk of waterway pollution and blocks drainage

systems.

2. Low Awareness of Waste Segregation and Recycling:

○ Many residents lack adequate knowledge of proper waste segregation, composting, and

recycling practices.

○ The absence of organized waste management systems has resulted in a reliance on

unsustainable disposal methods.

3. Decline in Green Spaces:

○ Limited tree cover has led to soil erosion and reduced air quality, impacting the overall

environmental health of the community.

○ The loss of greenery diminishes the area’s aesthetics and biodiversity.

4. Health and Environmental Risks:

○ Improper waste management contributes to the proliferation of pests and disease vectors,

threatening public health.

○ Environmental degradation, such as pollution and deforestation, further exacerbates the

community's vulnerability to climate change.

The Cleaner Greener Community project addresses these pressing issues by promoting effective

waste management, environmental education, and reforestation efforts, aiming to create a cleaner,

greener, and healthier living environment for the residents of Brgy. Matandang Sabang Kanluran.
