Process Management Configuration in solution manage 7.

In this step, you activate SAP Gateway services (OData services) for Process
Management. You need these to enable the SAP Solution Manager Fiori Launchpad, and
the SAP Fiori apps and mobile applications for Process Management.

Under Infra preparation we can see gateway service is enabled

To work with the SAP Solution Manager Launchpad, you must activate the following SAP
Gateway services:

 Services for the Fiori Launchpad, external service names INTEROP,

PAGE_BUILDER_PERS, PAGE_BUILDER_CONF, PAGE_BUILDER_CUST, TRANSPORT
 Service for Guided Procedure Authoring Documents, external service name
GPA_ODATA_DOC_SRV

For Use Case A, you have activated these services under SAP Solution Manager >
Cross-Scenario Configuration > Mandatory Configuration > Infrastructure Preparation,
step Enable Gateway Services, in the List of Gateway Services, under Cross Scenario
Configuration.

Under infra configuration

Note - It is recommended that you manually select all activated Gateway Services and activate
them again to ensure that the newly added relevant Gateway Services are included in the Activation.
If you still receive warning status in this step, please try to go through a few rounds of manually
selecting those activated Gateway Services to ensure that no relevant Gateway Services are
accidentally left out.
Now under process Management, Enable Gateway service tab will be green
Once you click on Execute customer code Management

see SAP Note 2194123.
It is important, that…
 S-User maintained in the RFC Destinations is assigned to a valid SAP Customer
Number and valid in [Link]
 RFC Destinations OCDAPIS and OCDSTORE are working correct:
o The result for the OCDAPIS Connection Test is 404.
o The result for the OCDSTORE Connection Test is 200.

Created both RFC in SOA system as per mentioned SAP Note 2194123.

2) Add Package to SAP Solution Manager 7.2 Basket

SAP Best Practices packages are only available for import in Solution Administration, if
they are selected in the SAP Best Practices Explorer ([Link]
It is important, that the S-User maintained in the RFC Destinations is the same S-User
used to add the package to the SAP Solution Manager 7.2 basket in SAP Best Practices
Explorer.
1. Open SAP Best Practices Explorer using the following
link: [Link]
2. Choose With SAP Solution Manager 7.2

number" while trying to import Best Practices package in
Solution Administration
Select SAP Best Practices Packages & click on check box.

click Next

select all the highlighted areas and click on Import

Note : We have created System landscape logical component group during solution creation, that the
reason its showing here

You will get above screen when Import is started.

In SM37 you can check below jobs during importing best practice.

Once import is finished you can check in the solution documentation under Import
Branch for SAP Best practice whether it is successfully imported or not.

Now you can validate in SOLDOC t-code

Common questions

To validate the successful import of SAP Best Practice packages, you need to navigate to SAP Solution Manager's T-Code SOLADM and access the Import tab. From there, after selecting the appropriate packages and initiating the import, you can check the progress using job monitoring in transaction code SM37. Upon completion, the solution documentation in the Import Branch can be validated using the SOLDOC T-Code, confirming successful importation of the packages. This thorough validation ensures the solutions are correctly integrated into the system landscape .

Setting up HTTP connections involves configuring RFC Destinations like OCDAPIS and OCDSTORE, essential for importing SAP Best Practices Packages into SAP Solution Manager 7.2. Critical considerations include assigning a valid S-User to these RFC Destinations, ensuring it corresponds to a valid SAP Customer Number, and verifying connectivity where OCDAPIS should show a connection test result of 404, while OCDSTORE should result in 200. This configuration ensures that the best practices packages from the SAP Best Practices Explorer can be added to the Solution Manager basket and imported correctly into the solution .

Activating SAP Gateway services in SAP Solution Manager is crucial for the functionality of the SAP Solution Manager Fiori Launchpad and associated mobile applications. These services enable integration and communication between front-end and back-end systems by providing OData services necessary for the operation of Fiori apps. Specifically, services like INTEROP, PAGE_BUILDER_PERS, and GPA_ODATA_DOC_SRV are required for the Fiori Launchpad and Guided Procedure Authoring Documents . Thus, successful activation ensures that the UI components and mobile apps work seamlessly, enhancing user experience and system usability .

InfoCubes form a critical part of SAP Solution Manager's Business Intelligence capabilities by storing and enabling reporting on various types of operational data. For example, InfoCubes such as 0SM_CCREF and 0SM_CCLM are used for storing code-analysis results and CCLM Reporting data, respectively. They allow for robust analysis and reporting, supporting functionalities like SQL monitoring and quality checks through ABAP Test Cockpit. This capability enables businesses to analyze operational data effectively for performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and strategic planning .

Logical Component Groups in SAP Solution Manager organize and manage technical system landscapes, thus facilitating the importation of SAP Best Practices Packages. These groups effectively serve as a container to group related technical systems that are pertinent for the specific solution setup. When importing SAP Best Practices Packages, they help ensure that the packages align with the created system landscape, which is a prerequisite for the importation process .

Manually reactivating Gateway Services in SAP Solution Manager is critical to ensure comprehensive inclusion of newly added relevant services. This step helps prevent potential warnings or errors that arise from omitted services during infrastructure preparation. Reactivation ensures that all necessary components are active and operational, which is crucial for maintaining functional consistency and performance of the SAP Solution Manager Fiori Launchpad and related services. This proactive approach minimizes system disruption by confirming that no relevant service is inadvertently left inactive .

Connection test results for RFC Destinations are crucial for configuring and troubleshooting SAP Solution Manager as they ensure connectivity between various components. For instance, a 404 result for the OCDAPIS Connection Test and a 200 for OCDSTORE confirm the operational readiness and appropriate communication channels needed for importing Best Practices Packages. These results help diagnose potential setup issues, ensuring the connections are established and functional before continuing with complex tasks like package import, thereby preventing disruptions or configuration errors .

Creating a new solution in SAP Solution Manager involves several precise steps and prerequisites. Initially, you must execute the T-Code SOLADM and select the option to create a new solution. This process requires specifying a Solution name and Technical name. Upon creation, the system automatically generates two branches: Maintenance and Production. Additionally, to effectively manage and import best practices, one should set up a logical component group that aligns with the solution landscape. Prerequisites for this process include having a valid SAP customer number and appropriate HTTP connections, amongst others .

Aligning the S-User in RFC destinations with the user in SAP Best Practices Explorer is necessary to maintain coherence and authentication continuity across systems. This alignment ensures that the user has the correct authorizations and affiliations across both platforms, allowing the best practices packages to be added to the SAP Solution Manager basket and successfully imported into the solution. This step prevents user-related access issues that could result in failed imports, such as wrongly attributed customer numbers or missing authorizations during the transfer processes .

The activation of BW Content enhances the reporting capabilities of SAP Solution Manager by enabling various data analytics and business intelligence services tailored to diverse reporting needs. For instance, activating BW Content for CCLM facilitates the use of InfoCubes for CCLM Reporting, which supports city model KPI reporting. Similarly, BW Content activation for SQL Monitoring and Usage Logging supports precise monitoring and analytical capabilities for SQL performance and system usage. These capabilities significantly enhance the strategic usage of data for operational insights, fostering informed decision-making processes within businesses .
