Even though globalization has positive effects on different aspects of the world, its negative
impacts should not be ignored. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
In the modern era, as the thirst for global connection in terms of cultural propagation and
foreign trading continues to rise, a new phenomenon called "globalization" appears and
dramatically influences numerous aspects of human life. While some proponents hold the view
that this interconnectedness does people good, others support the consensus that it has
detrimental effects that cannot be neglected. However, from my standpoint, I wholeheartedly
advocate the idea that its benefits outweigh the downslides.
To begin with, globalization gives rise to the blooming of the economy in terms of international
trade and investment. When it comes to the former, it is undoubtedly believed that
globalization is beneficial for foreign exchange due to the breakdown of individual differences.
A compelling example of this assertion is the uniformity of the world in language, especially
English, which has enabled traders to communicate in a better way regardless of their nations
without running the risk of misapprehension. Consequently, individuals and businesses stand a
chance of huge financial gains through non-domestic exchange. Furthermore, the
interdependent world provides national economies with a great chance for foreign investment.
Since globalization allows the world economy to be open, each country may attain a massive
profit from external investment if their market is appealing enough to investors. And this,
incontrovertibly, makes a considerable contribution to national economic growth.
In addition to the aforementioned benefits, internationalization is the springboard for the
flourishing of cultural values. First of all, as the world’s connections are no longer hindered by
geographical barriers on account of the wide spread of social media, it is true that the national
image of clothes, tradition, and culture may disperse. By the way, the more well-known a
national culture is, the more likely it is to be long-lasting and better preserved. Furthermore,
interconnectedness promotes cultural interchangeability. Globalized tourism makes it easier for
people to travel around the world, regardless of difficulty in distance and language. As a
consequence, when a person is exposed to a different culture, they tend to absorb its values
while also promoting their own cultural values. This exchange, in fact, is a prominent factor
leading to the world's diversity in culture and traditions.
However, people still debate whether this phenomenon do the world wonder as some believe
that globalization is the culprit behind the deterioration of each country’s culture. Despite there
is evidence cited to uphold this standpoint, I think it is just a foregone conclusion as the
increase in globalization, as I have mentioned, creates a suitable environment for all cultures to
expand, such as the cultural exchange between nations and the demolishment of conventional
hurdles, namely the language barrier.
In conclusion, although there are a large number of proponents of the deleterious impacts of
globalization, I still, for one, concur that there is nothing to worry about and that its advantages
are worth considering more than its negative sides.
