Outline: Part 3: “Home Version” of the Brown Bag

for this project. (The one you did your character outline on :) )
[Link] idea of this project is that you retell the
story using objects/items that you make/create
or find around the house that symbolize parts
of the story. Not buying anything: just using
sticks from outside, paper at the house, legos,
etc...
[Link]: To retell the story, “ The Good Deed” I may choose the
following items to symbolize the beginning, middle and end of the
story: 3-4 items for each. The items I would use to retell the
beginning would be: A pair of black lens sunglasses (to symbolize
her being blind), picture of a sugar cookie (I would draw, color and cut
out of paper) and a paper copy of a Girl Scout badge I drew. The
middle, I would symbolize with: Make a pretend book out of cardboard
and draw a book cover on it with the title of the book that Risa was
accused of stealing, a bouquet of flowers (I also drew and cut out), but
instead of flowers at the end of the stems I would put a bunch of
adjectives to represent the “eye bouquets” the girls would create and
lastly for the middle a small garbage can made out of a small plastic
cup with a label on the cup “garbage can.” For the end of the story I
would use legos and make a building symbolizing the doctor’s office
the character had to take her baby brother to and a friendship symbol
for how things ended at the conclusion.

Directions: Think about the 8-10 items you would
like to create or find around the house- inside or
outside- to symbolize your book or story. YOU
DON’T NEED TO MAKE THEM YET :) Just think it out.
Plan it. Start collecting materials around the house
to make them.
Assignment: Put your 8-10 items in an outline
like the example I provide above.
