1 Explain the scholarly communications with the contexts of Ethiopia
In Ethiopian contexts, scholarly communication includes sharing research, knowledge, and academic
findings both inside and outside of the scholarly community. Here are some important things to think
about:
Academic publication: By writing books, articles, research papers, and other scholarly works, Ethiopian
academics support academic publication. These books highlight the scholarly work of Ethiopian scholars
in a range of disciplines, including social sciences, education, health, and agriculture.
Difficulties: In spite of progress, Ethiopia still has difficulties with academic communication, such as
restricted access to finance, infrastructure, technology, and resources. These obstacles may make
Ethiopian research less visible and less widely disseminated internationally.
Digital Initiatives: Projects like digital libraries, open access platforms, and online repositories are
essential to enhancing academic communication in Ethiopia. By facilitating access to and sharing of
academic papers, these platforms raise the profile and influence of Ethiopian research.
Cooperation: To improve scholarly communication, cooperation between Ethiopian researchers,
institutions, and outside partners is essential. Networks, partnerships, and cooperative research projects
make it easier to share academic resources, research findings, and expertise.
Policy and Support: To foster a strong scholarly communication ecosystem in Ethiopia, government
backing, institutional policies, and financial resources for research and scholarly endeavors are crucial.
The scholarly community can be further strengthened by policies that place a high priority on
information exchange, open access, and research dissemination.
2 Explain the role of lnternet in scholarly communications
The Internet is a huge research resource that offers access to various materials on almost any subject.
Scholarly articles, books, and other information sources are more accessible than ever because of the
growth of internet databases and digital libraries. Additionally, the Internet is vital for researcher
collaboration and communication because it allows them to exchange thoughts, information, and
findings instantly. However, other people contend that the Internet is not a trustworthy source of
information since not all of the data found there is dependable or accurate. It is crucial to assess the
material attentively and keep the sources' reliability in mind.
Furthermore, there are concerns about plagiarism and how simple it is to copy and paste text from the
Internet without giving proper credit also exist. There are security and privacy issues when using the
Internet for research. As a result, it is crucial to use critical thinking while assessing the reliability of
sources discovered online. When employing sources for research, it is equally crucial to correctly
reference them to acknowledge the original writers and guarantee that your work is appropriately
credited.
3 list and explain the scholarly communication
Scholarly communication refers to the process by which researchers, scholars, and
academics engage in sharing, disseminating, and collaborating on scholarly work
and knowledge. Here are key components of scholarly communication:
Periodicals publication . This periodical publication channel is well respected within scientific
communities for their high level of academic impact, credentials, quality assurance, accessibility, and
outreach potentials.
The scientific conferences: are considered as a good avenue for reaching out to expert communities in
an interactive mode to get feedbacks on presented research papers. Conference papers may be
published before or after the conference. Nowadays, many conferences are co-publishing presented
conference papers in online proceedings, available with commercial publishers’ knowledge gateways.
Research monograph : is also a good option for publishing results of research. In some books,
collections of chapters written by different authors are considered, where each chapter is a kind of
research paper depicting certain amount of results of a research work.
Academic journal: Ethiopian scholars contribute to academic publishing by producing research papers,
articles, books, and other scholarly works. These publications showcase the intellectual contributions of
Ethiopian researchers in various fields such as agriculture, health, education, and social sciences.
Working papers : help the researchers in getting qualitative and timely feedbacks for making certain
changes in research design or analysis of generated data. The patents are vehicle of protection of
intellectual property rights emanated from scientific projects or scientific discoveries. A new product or
process or technique derived from a scientific research work, which has certain applications for the
betterment of human life, is patentable and inventors can claim it as their intellectual property by
registering it with patenting
