Have you shown the use of a growth mindset within your team so far? If so, how (provide
examples)? If not, why not? What steps will you take to further develop a growth mindset?

At the very start of collaborative studio, when me and my team were choosing what roles we wanted to do, I decided to
choose the note-taker/admin role for the team. As a not-so-organised person, these types of roles are normally the ones I
shy away from. However, I knew I wanted to take on a challenge, developing certain skills that I hadn't given that much
attention to. Reflecting back after a period of 5 weeks, I am certain that was the best decision I could’ve made for myself
(Parker, 2012).m
That led to outcomes that had a significant impact on my personal growth as well as my responsibilities within the team.
Although at first it was difficult to be on top of the organisation, eventually it became part of my habits to insure that before/
after each class all of our notes are in order. Assuming the responsibility of note-taker/admin not only made my work within
the team better, but it also improved my productivity and organisation at home by helping me plan my day and make sure I
get things done more efficiently (Isaacson, 2012).
I also realised that an unfamiliar role created a new level of responsibility. I became more proactive, knowing full well that
my contribution was important to the progress that the team made. The accountability that came with the role made me
focus on not just doing the tasks but doing them well, which thereby improved problem-solving and communication skills
(Xiaoyan, 2014).
To conclude, taking on a role that was not typically one I would choose not only expanded my skill sets but rounded me
into an efficient and organised individual. The experience has really taught me an important lesson about how moving out
of my comfort zone can help me build on areas where I wasn't confident previously.
