Preliminary information from the farmer regarding crop management:

 The farmer Sri Atte Ramaiah S/o. Bhumaiah R/o in Makulapet village,
Dandepally mandal of Mancherial district has purchased paddy seed variety
“Annapurna NP 7373” from M/s. Agros Rythu Seva Kendram, Thallapeta
village, Dandepally mandal of Mancherial district on 26 th June, 2024 and
sown nursery on 3rd July 2024 and transplanted on 30.07.2024 with 27 days
old aged seedlings in the main field in an area of 12.0 acres.
 Soil type: The soil type is Red soil having assured irrigation facility.
 Fertilizer application: The following source fertilizers were applied at basal,
25 and 50 days after transplanting
Time of application Fertilizer Dosage/acre
Basal DAP + Urea 50 kg +22.5 kg
st
1 dose (25 DAT) 20-20-0+ Urea 50 kg +22.5 kg
2nd dose (50 DAT) Urea + MOP 45 kg +10 kg
Total Fertilizer applied by farmer: dose: 66-33-6 kg N-P2O5-K2O/acre
Recommended dose: 48-20-16 kg N-P2O5-K2O/acre

 Weed management: Sprayed as pre-emergence herbicide Pilot (Pretilachlor

50% EC @ 250 ml/care) at 4 days after transplanting (DAT) and done manual
weeding @ 20 DAT for weed control.

 Pest and disease management: The farmer has applied pesticides viz.,
Chlorpyrifos @ 250 ml/acre to control stem borer at 25 DAT and
Chlorantraniliprole @ 60 ml/care to leaf folder at 40 DAT
Observations made by the team
 The field has assured irrigation facility and there was no moisture stress during
the crop period.
 The famer has sown the crop in recommended sowing window
 The crop is at maturity stage, uniform and free from mixtures. The duration of
the variety is around 135 days with super fine grain type.
 The range of plant population per square meter observed was 35 – 40 per square
meter.
 In most of the observed plots the effective bearing tillers were low to average (7 to 14
productive tillers per plant)
 Plant height: 95 to 100 cm
 Farmer has applied slightly higher dose of N and P fertilizers and lower dose K
fertilizer than recommended
 Pest infestation: Panicle mite and grain discoloration (10-15 %), BPH (5-8 per cent)
 Disease incidence: Bacterial leaf blight (2-5 per cent),

From the above observations, it can be concluded that, the possibility of yield reduction
may be around 25 per cent. The main reasons for yield reduction could be due to

Low tillering in most of the observed plots

Pest and disease incidence like panicle mite, grain discoloration, BPH and BLB.
The farmer has taken control measures for the management of stem borer. For
BPH, BLB and panicle mite no control measures were taken.
