REAL AND POTENTIAL CONCCERNS OF EACH STAKEHOLDER

1. Shareholders/Investors

As Grameenphone is a high-profile company, any regulatory challenges (e.g., fines,


restrictions) could negatively impact stock prices and investor confidence. Also, the telecom
market in Bangladesh could be reaching saturation, leading to slower growth rates in new
subscribers or services

2. Customers

Customers expect reliable network coverage, fast data speeds, and good customer service.
Network congestion or service outages are immediate concerns. Also, Affordability is a
major concern, especially for low-income segments. Unexpected hikes in pricing for services
could lead to dissatisfaction.

3. Employees

Employees want competitive salaries, benefits (healthcare, pension plans), and incentives,
especially if Grameenphone is under financial pressure.

As telecom technology evolves employees may need retraining, and those unable to adapt
may face job insecurity.

4. Regulatory Authorities

Ensuring that Grameenphone and other telecom companies contribute adequately to national
revenues, especially through taxes, licenses, and spectrum fees.

Also Ensuring that Grameenphone provides fair services and prevents exploitation of
consumers, including issues related to deceptive marketing or unfair charges.

5. Government of Bangladesh

Grameenphone contributes significantly to the national economy through taxes, job creation,
and infrastructure development. The government is concerned with its long-term profitability
and contribution to national growth.

6. Suppliers and Partners

Suppliers and partners rely on Grameenphone for timely payment for goods and services.
Delays in payment could disrupt their operations.

Suppliers and partners may face challenges if Grameenphone changes its technological or
service requirements, potentially leading to the need for costly adjustments.

7. Competitors
Competitors are concerned about Grameenphone’s dominance in the market and its ability to
capture new customers or drive down prices.

8. Media

Media outlets rely on accurate and timely information from Grameenphone to report news
about the company, but delays or lack of transparency can harm relations.

9. Academia and Research Institutions

Academics and researchers may rely on data from Grameenphone for studies related to
digital inclusion, technology use, or market trends. They are concerned about data availability
and access.

10. General Public

The general public is concerned about equitable access to Grameenphone’s services,


especially in underserved or rural areas.

People may be concerned about the cost of Grameenphone’s services, particularly low-
income segments of the population.

Public concern over personal data privacy, especially related to mobile financial services, can
escalate if there are security breaches or lack of transparency in data handling.

Determining Importance of Each Stakeholder

1. Shareholders / Investors
Shareholders are significantly important for an organization. If a company has
credibility, it will get more investment. Therefore, shareholders or investors have a
strong influence on an organization’s performance.

2. Customers
Customers or consumers are the most crucial factor for a company. A company
produces its services and goods for its customers. They are the source of a company’s
revenue and profit. Without customers a company will not exist. Hence, Customers
are the most critical issue.

3. Employees
A company requires workforce to operate. It hires employees to run the company. A
company can not operate without its employees. So, they bear much importance.

4. Regulatory Authorities
Regulatory Authorities influence all the organizations in a particular state. Companies
have to follow the rules and regulations defined by regulatory authorities. They can
take legal steps for not following the rules. Thus, they play an important role in
business environment.

5. Government of Bangladesh
Government creates act for all the companies in every country. Everyone has to
follow the law. A government’s foreign ministry plays the most significant role in
creating international relationships. The government has the most critical influence on
any organization.

6. Suppliers and Partners


Although suppliers provide Grameen Phone with all the raw materials, they do not
bare much importance because suppliers have a lot of competitors.

7. Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Social Organizations


NGOs have a little impact on the organization because they do not contribute to the
supply chain of the company.

8. Competitors
“The survival of the fittest” is a popular quote in the business world. In a competitive
market, every company want to outcompete other companies. Therefore, a company
has to be innovative to continue to exist in the market. So, competitors are critical
factor for any organization.

9. Media
The media plays a moderate role in an organization’s success. Sometimes, media can
create a positive or negative public view of a company.

A company has to spend on its R&D sector to exist in the market. It has to bring new
features constantly, understand changing customer preferences and expectations.
Hence, Research and Development Sector has a crucial role in a company.

11. The Public


A company can not operate if it is hated by a large number of populations. People can
boycott or even bring out protest. So, public opinion is critical to a company.

Specific Approach to Manage Relationship with Stakeholders


Grameen Phone can take some crucial steps to ensure relationship with its stakeholders.

1. Prioritize Stakeholders’ Expectations


Keeping good relationship is vital to a company’s growth. A company that prioritizes
its stakeholders has a better opportunity to be successful.

2. Respect Stakeholders’ Opinion


A company has to emphasize its stakeholders’ opinion to build profitable long-term
relationships. If a company does not prioritize their opinion, it might experience a
backlash.

3. Build Loyalty and Credibility


To be successful in long-term, an organization has to build loyal customers. It will
help the company to earn profit and customer satisfaction.
