PREFACE

INTRODUCTION:
In order to be successful in this game, or any aspect
of life, a person must have goals.

70% of players reading this have never set a goal,

the remaining 30% just “talk” about the things they
want to achieve.

For example a player might say, “I want to become a

better player.” While that’s technically a goal, it’s
simply too vague and cannot be quantified.

How can you actually know if you got better?

The goals you set must be narrowed down and

written down on paper. You want to be able to see
your goals.

The second you wake up you want to be able read

your goals because it will you step into the day with
the right mindset.

Let’s back up for a second, how can we turn this

goal: “I want to become a better player” to
something more focused and narrowed.

2
PREFACE

INTRODUCTION:
In this example, you would want to specifically
choose an aspect of your game that you want to
improve, for example, “I want to be able to juggle the
ball 100 times without dropping it.”

Now this goal is measurable. You can count the reps

and there’s nothing left to chance.

A variation of this could be, “I want to score 10 goals

this season” or “I want to be able to run 90 minutes
without getting tired.”

Both of these goals are specific, measurable,

attainable, they are realistic and timely.

This is called a SMART Goal. You want the goals you

set to follow this criteria. In the next few pages I’ll
how you how you can do that using a simple
worksheet.

But before we do that. Let me tell you why setting

SMART goals is important for you.

3
WHAT IS
SMART GOALS?

MOTASTICPLAYER
SMART GOALS

INSIGHT:
A goal is an aim or objective that you would like to
achieve, within a certain time.

By setting a goal you are signing a contract with

yourself so that you are committed to reaching a
new level of skill or performance.

To make this easy for you, we will be using the

SMART Goals Framework to set our goals but don’t
worry you will receive a worksheet with all this
information so you can set your own goals.

SMART Goals Framework:

Specific: Make goals as specific as possible. This

will help you focus your efforts and clearly define
what you’re going to do.

What do you want to accomplish?

Why is this important to you?
How are you going to do it?

5
SMART GOALS

INSIGHT:
Measurable: Choose a goal with measurable
progress, you want to be able to see improvement
as the weeks progress.

This will help you stay on track, reach your target

dates and experience a feeling accomplishment
when you see positive change.

Achievable: Goals must be attainable. They myst

reasonable for you to achieve them, goals that are
set too high or too low become meaningless.

You don’t want to set goals that are too far out of
reach, like for example “I want to score 3 goals in
my next 10 games.”

Good example of this would be, “I want to score 15

goals over the course of my season.”

The difference between the first goal and the

second goal is that you are putting unnecessary
pressure on yourself.

6
SMART GOALS

INSIGHT:
And chances are you won’t be able to score 3
goals a game because you might miss a few
matches, have a few bad games or etc.

Meanwhile, setting a goal of scoring 15 goals over

the season gives you the freedom to do your thing.
It reduces that “unnecessary” pressure and allows
you to perform at your best.

The last thing you want to do is become anxious

or depressed because you didn’t score 3 goals in
that game and now worry that you have to score 4
or 5 goals in the next game.

Realistic: You must set goals that are realistic. To

do this, it’s important to become self aware and
honestly evaluate yourself.

I see so many players saying, “I will train 8 hours a

day like Ronaldo.” And yes they do it for a day but
when day two comes around they don’t have the
ability to train because their bodies are simply not
ready.

7
SMART GOALS

INSIGHT:
A better way to set this goal would be, “I will train
8 more hours on top of my current training.” This is
realistic because throughout the week you can
squeeze in a wall session, a 30 minute ab workout
or even a light shooting session at the end of
training.

Timely: The goals you set must have a deadline.

Having a set amount of time will keep you
accountable and provide some structure in you
achieving them.

People say, “I want to be able to do 100 pushup”

and that they’ll get there someday. But you need
to understand that without an end date there is
no sense of urgency.

Now that we have a framework to set goal, let’s

actually take a second set SMART Goals.

SETTING
GOALS 101

MOTASTICPLAYER
SETTING GOALS

INSIGHT:
In this section we will be using our worksheet to
set goals that follow our SMART Goals Framework.

To do this, you can access the SMART Worksheet

Here.

I want you to take the next 15 minutes and go to

quiet room without any distractions, and yes that
means turn off your cell phone and really focus on
what you want.

Nowadays we have so many distractions coming

from Instagram, YouTube and TikTok.

And with that being said, you need to able have

that self discipline to be able to turn off all the
noise.

Prove yourself that you’re in control of your phone

and not the other way around.

So after you finish reading this section print out

the worksheet and find a quiet place to work for
the next 15 minutes.

10
SETTING GOALS

INSIGHT:
I have also attached an example worksheet, which
will show you how I would fill out this worksheet.

To access Example Worksheet Click Here.

Now please understand, your goals have to be

unique to you, so by all means please be brutally
honest with yourself and what it is that you want
to achieve.

If you have the worksheet in front of you, I would

like you to take a second to open the example
worksheet and see how I filled it out for inspiration.

Then take the next 15 minutes to really hone in on

what you want to accomplish and fill out the
worksheet.

WHY SET
GOALS?

MOTASTICPLAYER
IMPORTANCE

INSIGHT:
There are three steps to implementing a goal into
action:

Step 1: Write out your goal.

Step 2: Take action today.
Step 3: Constantly track and monitor your
progress in a journal.

Let’s break it down one step further.

So by now you should’ve completed step 1 and

have officially decided on what it is you truly want
as well as the time frame it will take you to
achieve your goal.

The next step is to take action NOW. You must do,

everyday, all that you can do that day, and do each
act in an efficient manner.

Do what you said you would because if you simply

think about it, nothing will happen.

13
IMPORTANCE

INSIGHT:
Every act is, in itself, either a success or failure.
Every act is, in itself, either effective or inefficient.

Every inefficient act is a failure, and if you spend

your life in doing inefficient acts, your whole life
will be a failure.

Finally the last step is to constantly monitor your

progress.

I recommend investing into a journal because it

will help you track everything from how you feel,
to what you worked on, to how far you are from
accomplishing your goals.

If you journal 7 days a week while tracking

everything you’ve done throughout the week, you
can look back at the end of the week and analyze.

You can adjust the things that need to be

improved, whether it’s your diet or the number of
hours you trained.

14
IMPORTANCE

INSIGHT:
By fine tuning your previous week, you can set
yourself up to be more efficient the following
week.

Just know that by now, you’re doing better than

70% of the players. But to be part of the 1% you
must act on your goals and the key is to act now.

Summary:
To genuinely see improvement in your game you
need to set SMART Goals.

What are SMART Goals?

Specific: Make goals as specific as possible.
Measurable: Choose a goal with measurable
progress
Achievable: Goals must be attainable.
Realistic: You must set goals that are realistic.
Timely: The goals you set must have a deadline.

Once you've set your goal, you now have a mission

to complete. Think of it like a game, you need to
constantly level up and the only way to do that is
by playing the game.
