1. What is Republic Act no 9163
Republic Act 9163 called the National Service Training Program (NSTP)
Act of 2001 it was passed in Philippines on January 23, 2002. This law strives to
improve the standards of civilizing the youth’s physical, moral, spiritual,
intellectual and hence defense readiness. The NSTP comprises three
components: the ROTC, which is all about military training; the LTS, which trains
and prepares learners for the teaching of literacy and numeracy in low literacy
communities; the CWTS that relates the learners to programs that enhance civic
welfare. It is obligatory for educational organizations to include at least one of
these parts in their curriculum and there are conditions under which certain
population segments can freely choose not to ever get a good look at any of
these components. It requires that the program has to train students for at least
two semesters, which has been middle in line with the Philippine syllabi of
providing nationalism as well as social justice for the youths.
2. Define Republic. Act no. 7077
Republic Act No. 7077, also known as the “Citizen Armed Forces of the
Philippines Reservist Act” was approved into law last March 18, 1991, to provide
a system of organization and training for the Armed Forces Reserve Command.
To put it simply, it is designed to ensure security and defense of the country by
training a few of its citizens for its protection in times of emergency. It mandates
that the reservists undergo training programs for the purpose of instilling in them
necessary military skills aside from nurturing in them love of country and civic
consciousness. The act provides the qualifications a person must possess to be
a reservist, which includes age, physical, and educational requirements. It
likewise extends and offers various benefits and incentives to attract people to
join the reservist program. Moreover, RA 7077 seals the call for coordination by
the Department of National Defense with the local government units in the
implementation of such programs for the ultimate objective of building a more
formidable defense posture of the nation through active citizen involvement.
3. What is Presidential decree no 1706
Presidential Decree No. 1706, dated June 10, 1980, is the
"National Service Law" of the Philippines which provides for the
establishment of a comprehensive national service program
designed to implant in the Filipino youth a sense of civic
responsibility and patriotism, and to prepare them for
eventualities of national defense. This order states that every
citizen especially the young must serve the nation which will
help create a sense of duty and obligation to the nation. It
stresses the need for training programs that will build those
necessary skills and values needed not only for the defense of
the nation but also for community service. This national service
program would be administered by the Department of National
Defense and other appropriate agencies.
