CRANE SET UP
Step 1. Prior to the operation commencing the lift supervisor/slingers to inspect items to be lifted to ensure they are in a suitable condition. This

Step 6. The crane will be driven onto site and manoeuvred into the operating position where it will be set up in accordance with the crane
Step 7. All lifting equipment and accessories to be checked for any damage or defects and quarantined if necessary. All certification to be checked
for lifting equipment and accessories to ensure it is in test date.
Step 8. Crane Supervisor/Signaller to agree with the crane driver an appropriate means of communication. Where possible this should be via 2-way
radio, however recognised hand-signals may be used. An isolated radio channel should be used and the operational halted if communication is lost.
A radio check should be carried out prior to commencing.
Step 9. Upon completion of rigging up, the crane operator will be instructed to carry out a 360° slew of the superstructure to confirm the crane and
ground suitability. An over-hoist check shall be carried out to ensure this function is operational.
Step 10. During this time, a wind speed check will be carried out to ensure it is low enough for the operation to commence, as stated by the crane
manufacturer.
Step 11. The crane operator will now extend their boom as stated in Lift Plan Drawing and slew over the pick-up and place positions, verifying they
have the load capability specified in on the Lift Plan Drawing

Additional Lifting Accessories can be used to progress the task safely, Lifting Supervisor can assess onsite and make changes where required.
