Dr.
Panares found out that individual or group coaching generally improved the
research outputs of students. However, there were individuals or groups that did
not improve. This was the focus of her study, to find out factors that hinder their
output performance. Literature says, that attitude towards research, writing skills
and analytical skills are very much needed in doing research. So she conducted
the study in Lamac High School. She measured the attitude and classified as
positive and negative attitude. She measured the writing skills and analytical skills
of the students (using scales) and associate these with their research output
ratings. She also thought of including gender, with the assumptions that females
are good in writing while males are good in analysis
1. The five variables: were attitude toward research, writing skills, analytical skills,
gender, and ratings of output research.
2. Discrete: gender; continuous: writing skills, analytical skills, research output
ratings; categorical: attitude (positive/negative).
3. The objective was to understand the factors affecting the research output
performances of students.
[Link] dependent variable is research output ratings. The independent variable are
writing skills, attitude towards research and analytical skills. And the moderator
variable is the gender.
[Link], it can add control variable to account for other factors that might influence
the research output ratings but are not the primary focus of the study.
