Major Plans
I am currently in high school so, I do not have a major yet. My goal is to pursue a career as
elementary school teacher. This eld excites me because I have always had a passion for working
with children and helping them discover the joy of learning. I am also a natural leader in life so
teaching make sense for me. I aim to develop a strong foundation in child development,
instructional strategies, and classroom management to prepare for my future goal of creating a
positive and engaging learning environment where students can thrive. Ultimately, I aspire to
make a meaningful impact on young learners and inspire them to reach their full potential.
Past Learning
Instance 1
In my sophomore year, I struggled to memorize the periodic table for my chemistry class. To
tackle this, I used the mnemonic device technique by creating an acronym using the rst letters
of the elements. This helped me recall the order and names of the elements more effectively. I
also engaged in spaced repetition, reviewing the table at intervals, which reinforced my memory
over time.
Instance 2
During my history class, I needed to remember signi cant dates and events for an upcoming
exam. I created a timeline that visually represented the events alongside their dates. This method,
known as visual imagery, allowed me to connect the events more meaningfully, making it easier
to recall during the test. Additionally, I formed study groups where we quizzed each other, which
enhanced my understanding through active engagement.
Application 1
For my upcoming psychology exam, I anticipate challenges in memorizing various psychological
theories and their key proponents. To address this, I plan to use the concept mapping technique.
By creating visual representations of the relationships between different theories, I can better
understand and recall them. For example, I will create a map linking cognitive, behavioral, and

humanistic theories, highlighting the main ideas and associated psychologists for each. This
method will facilitate both understanding and retention of complex information.
Application 2
In my next biology course, I expect to encounter dif culty in memorizing the stages of cellular
respiration. To improve my retention, I will utilize the method of loci, a memory palace
technique. I will visualize my home as a palace where each room represents a different stage of
cellular respiration. For instance, in the kitchen, I might associate the glycolysis stage with the
action of breaking down ingredients for a meal. This spatial association will help me remember
the process step-by-step during exams.
Application 3
As I prepare for my upcoming statistics course, I realize that I need to learn various formulas and
concepts related to data analysis. To do this, I plan to implement the spaced repetition technique
using ashcards. Each card will feature a formula on one side and its application on the other. I
will review these ashcards regularly, gradually increasing the intervals between sessions. This
approach will help solidify my understanding of statistical concepts while enhancing long-term
retention.
