family. He contributed 7
of his salary in meeting other expenses. He is
left with Rs 13,300.
(i)What is Avaneesh's total salary?
Sol: Let Total salary = Rs x
𝑥 𝑥
Amount donated to Orphanage = 3
Amount spent for grocery = 5
2𝑥
Amount spent to meet out other expanse = 7
Amount left with him = Rs 13,300
𝑥 𝑥 2𝑥 86𝑥
By data 3
+ 5
+ 7
+ 13300 = x => X - 105
= 13300 => x = Rs 73,500
Avaneesh salary = Rs 73,500
(ii)How much did he donate to Orphanage?
Sol: Total salary = Rs 73,500
𝑥 1
Amount donated to Orphanage = 3
= 3
x 73500 = RS 24,500
(iii) How much did he spend on purchasing grocery items?
Sol: Total salary = Rs 73,500
𝑥 1
Amount Spent on grocery items = 5
= 5
x 73,500 = RS 14,700

(iv)Find the Simplest form of −16
and also write in standard form?
24 6 3
Ans: Simplest form of −16
= −4
= −2
−3
Standard form = 2
2 2
(v) Insert 5 rational numbers between 3
and −7
?
Ans: LCM of 3 and 7 is 21
1
2 7 14 −2 3 −6
Converting into like fractions: 3
x 7
= 21
and 7
x 3 = 21
13 12 −4 −5
The required rational numbers = 21
, 21
…. 21
, 21
(any five)
2 Aiswarya’s grandmother has been suffering from fever for many days.
She went to her hometown, Vijayawada to see her grandmother . Her
1

of her journey
by bus, 227.5 km by train, 26 km by taxi and rest on foot.
(i) How much distance did Aiswarya cover by bus?
Sol: Total Distance = 325 km
1
Distance covered by bus = 5
of 325 = 65 km
(ii) How much percentage of journey she covered by train?
Sol: Distance covered by train = 227.5 km
227.5
Percentage = 325
x 100 = 70%
(iii) How much distance did she cover on foot?
Sol: Total Distance = 325 km
Distance covered on foot = 325 - (65+227.5+26) = 6.5 km

(iv)Find the absolute value of 3
+ −5 ?
−2 4 −10 −12 −22
Ans: 3 + −5 = 15 + 15 = 15
−2 4 22
absolute value of 3 + −5 is 15
