Police Brutality
Most people believe that police officers will uphold the responsibilities they have been
given and protect us citizens , but sadly that isn't always the case. For decades now, we continue
to see throughout the media some citizens being assaulted either verbally or physically by police
officers. While a majority of officers throughout the country have strong morals and do the right
thing, a small few will go against that and create havoc in which they are supposed to stop. Every
profession has a few bad batches of employees that make mistakes either purposely or
accidentally, but law enforcement is one of the select few where your mistakes can be
broadcasted across the country and have severe consequences. Understandably because this
profession allows officers to use deadly force and coercion as a way to maintain peace within
communities. Police brutality seems to be becoming a common occurrence across the country,
which is disheartening because police are supposed to be protectors of the people so the need to
address and fix these matters are essential as law abiding citizens should be able to trust the
police.
I believe everyone in America understands the seriousness of the problem at hand and
knows something needs to be done about it. These are delicate situations that are sometimes
handled with reckless actions. The importance of maintaining peace throughout the country
should be one of our top concerns and to make sure the people who do it don’t cause more.

American citizens all have a common goal of stopping police violence, but the separation of
minds becomes involved when solutions are brought up. You have multiple factions approaching
this enigma of a problem so it only makes sense that so much opposition is present when
considering solutions. Obviously, this isn’t a problem that can be solved overnight since the
movement against police has been around for as long as it has, but that doesn't mean we should
give up trying to figure out a way to end it if not at least limit police brutality as much as
possible so we can get people moving with the police instead of against.
Steps have been taken towards police brutality like police officers having to wear body
cameras.
