PB.3.2: What is standard form?

Standard Form:
2
The Standard Form of a quadratic is 𝑦 = 𝑎𝑥 + 𝑏𝑥 + 𝑐.

When working in standard form, we must be able to identify the a, b and c values from the
equation!

1. Identify the a, b and c values for the following quadratics in standard form.

2
a. 𝑦 = 2𝑥 − 3𝑥 − 6

a=
2 b= 3 c= 6
2
b. 𝑦 =− 𝑥 + 3𝑥

a= 1 b=
3 c= 0
2
c. 𝑦 = 10𝑥 − 2𝑥 − 1

a=
10 b= 2 c= 1
PB.3.3: Putting the Pieces Together
If you are given a quadratic in standard form, you can find the axis of symmetry, the vertex and the
y-intercept all from that equation!
