Q2/1) What do you understand by single cropping and multiple cropping ?


Ans – 1) Single cropping
>A farming technique which involves growing of same crop on the same land
year-by-year is known as single cropping.
2) Multiple cropping
>The practice of growing two or more crops on the same plot of land in a
growing season is called multiple cropping

Q5/2) What do you mean by coarse grains ?


Ans >Coarse grains are a broad sub groups of several short duration warm
weather crops like Jowar, Bajra, Ragi etc.
>They require low rainfall and are grown on less fertile lands.
>They are grown in India, Niger, Nigeria, and China.

Q11/3) What is organic farming ?


Ans – In this type of farming, organic manure and natural pesticides are used
instead of chemicals.

Q18/4) Climate plays a vital role in agriculture. Justify..


Ans >The climatic conditions of a place, particularly the temp. and rainfall
influence crop rotation.
>The crops grown in an area may vary according to the temperature
requirements
of various crops.
> For example,
Crops like sugarcane and rice grows in high temperature whereas crops like
wheat and sugar are grown in a different temperature.
Q20/5) Give any three differences in the agricultural practices of a developing
country and a developed country..
Ans – Developed Country
> In developed countries, a minimum of people work in agriculture and food
production and the vast majority of the work is done by machinery.
> Farm size is huge

and breaks.

Pisciculture -> Process of growing fish and selling it or using its products
for domestic or commercial use is known as pisciulture.
Viticulture -> The cultivation or culture of grapes especially for wine
making is known as viticulture.
Horticulture -> The study or practice of growing flowers, fruit and
vegetables.
