CERTIFICATE

This is to recognize and appreciate that Mr. Amit Chakraborty (University Roll
no : 007-MCS-2021-004 of the session 2021-23), a UG student of the School of
Computer Science, has successfully completed his project entitled “Personal
Information Identification and Redaction from Textual corpus and images using
custom trained transformers and transfer learning” which is worth of acceptance
for the partial fulfillment of his Degree of ANCS in the year 2023. The project,
which spans her final semester of study, has got the expected involvement from
him, and the kind of devotion he has shown will add value to her merit.

Hence, I recommend that the dissertation submitted by Mr. Amit Chakraborty

may kindly be accepted.

I wish him all the best in the future.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

It is easy to understand that proposing this kind of algorithm and implementing

it through coding is not easy without any help or suggestions from anybody. I
have tried to accomplish my major project, “University Resource Planning and
Optimization Using Genetic Algorithms” by taking a lot of valuable tips and
suggestions from a number of individuals. I would like to express my sincerest
gratitude to those people.
I would like to express my deepest appreciation to my project guide, Dr.
Somsubhra Gupta, who continuously and convincingly conveyed a spirit of
adventure regarding this research study and excitement regarding teaching.
Without his guidance and persistent help, this dissertation would not have been
possible.
Secondly, I would also like to thank all the faculty members for their kind
support. They always encouraged me to solve critical problems whenever I
faced them during this project. I am extremely grateful for their assistance and
suggestions throughout my project. I would also like to thank my fellow
classmates for helping whenever it was needed to complete the project.
Finally, I must express my profound gratitude to my parents for providing me
with unfailing support and continuous encouragement throughout my studies
and the completion of the dissertation. Without them, this accomplishment
would not have been possible.

Such support systems foster a collaborative learning environment, enabling students to overcome challenges more effectively and enhancing the overall quality and depth of academic projects .

Amit Chakraborty highlighted the challenge of proposing and implementing algorithms, noting the complexity involved without external help. Support systems included guidance from Dr. Somsubhra Gupta, assistance and encouragement from faculty members and classmates, and unwavering support from his parents, illustrating a comprehensive network that facilitated his project's success .

Amit Chakraborty acknowledged the guidance of his project mentor, support from faculty, help from classmates, and family support. Such acknowledgments are significant as they recognize the collaborative nature of academic endeavors, demonstrating gratitude and adherence to academic norms by crediting those who contributed to the project's success .

Amit Chakraborty asserted adherence to academic honesty by declaring that his work represents his own ideas, and where others' ideas or words were included, he has provided adequate citations. He acknowledged the importance of avoiding misrepresentation, fabrication, or falsification of data, ensuring integrity in his academic submission .

The project addresses contemporary digital privacy challenges by developing algorithms capable of automatically identifying and redacting personal information in texts and images. This technological solution is critical given the increasing digitalization of personal data, providing a method to safeguard privacy in digital communications and storage .

Dr. Somsubhra Gupta provided continuous guidance and support, instilling a spirit of adventure and excitement for the research study. His persistent help was crucial for the successful completion of the dissertation, demonstrating how effective mentorship can significantly enhance a student's academic performance and project outcomes .

In Amit Chakraborty's project, transfer learning allows the application of knowledge gained from training models on one task to improve performance on a related task. This method reduces the need for extensive data on every new task, speeding up project development, and facilitating more effective and adaptable identification and redaction of personal information across diverse digital formats .

The project on 'University Resource Planning and Optimization Using Genetic Algorithms' uses genetic algorithms to optimally allocate university resources. By simulating natural selection, genetic algorithms evolve resource allocation strategies over multiple iterations, aiming to optimize parameters like scheduling, resource usage, and overall efficiency in resource planning .

Amit Chakraborty's project focuses on the identification and redaction of personal information from textual corpus and images using custom-trained transformers and transfer learning. The primary goal is to enhance privacy by effectively obfuscating sensitive data while ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the redaction processes .

The implementation of custom-trained transformers and transfer learning enhances personal information protection by leveraging advanced machine learning techniques to efficiently recognize and redact sensitive data. These technologies allow the system to apply learned knowledge across similar tasks, increasing the accuracy and adaptability of the redaction process, thus improving privacy protection mechanisms .
