Stage 1 component map
Three components:
Teacher's Resource 1 (printed book and CD-ROM) – contains material to cover all objectives, can be used on its own.
Learner's Book 1 (printed book; NOT write in) – reinforcement/consolidation tool, does NOT cover all objectives and must be used in conjunction with the Teacher's Resource.
Games Book 1 (printed book and CD-ROM) – supplementary resource that can be used on any mathematics course for children of 5–6 years of age.
Teacher's Resource (TR)
The Teacher's Resource covers all the objectives in the Cambridge Primary curriculum framework for mathematics; it represents the principal component of each stage.
Each chapter in the TR is split into different 'Core activities', each of which generally describe the content of a single lesson (or session) and include 'More activities' that can be used for support or extension.
At the start of each chapter in the TR, there is a list of the objectives covered across the Core activities of that chapter.
In the grid below, the horizontal alignment indicates in which unit of the framework the covered objectives sit, the chapter title in the TR, the title of the associated page in the Learner's Book and finally, the title of an associated game
in the Games Book if one exists.
Learner's Book (LB)
For each Core activity in the TR, there is an associated page of content in the Learner's Book; the title and page number of which is referenced in the 'Notes on the Learner's Book section' at the end of a Core activity in the TR.
In the grid below, horizontal alignment indicates the title of the Learner's Book page(s) associated with a given Core activity in the TR.
Games Book (GB)
For some Core Activities in the TR, there is an associated game in the Games Book; the title and page number of which is referenced in the 'Games Book' section at the end of a Core activity in the TR.
In the grid below, horizontal alignment indicates the title of the Games Book page(s) associated with a given Core activity in the TR.
