Instructions
1. This paper consists of 39 questions in 5 sections
2. All questions are compulsory. However, an internal choice is provided in some
questions. A student is expected to attempt only one of these questions.
3. Section A is of 20 objective type questions
4. Section B consists of 6 VSAQs carrying two marks each. Answers to these
questions should be in the range of 30-50 words
5. Section C consists of 7 SAQs carrying 3 marks each. Answers should be in the
range of 50 to 80 words.
6. Section D consists of 3 LAQs carrying 5 mars each. Answers should be in the
range of 80 to 120 words.
7. Section E consists of 3 source-based/case-based units of assessment of 4
marks each with sub-parts.

37. A country X has placed strict laws on criticising government policies. The media
is controlled by the government and can only show the ruling party’s side of
politics. All government officials are forced to join the party meetings. There is a
constant case of voter suppression and sometimes, votes of people of certain
castes are not counted properly. Based on this passage, answer the following:

38. There is a dalit boy in a village. Due to his family’s dire financial circumstances,
he could not afford to go to school. His mother sold cotton at a nearby market,
and his father was bedridden. Soon, he became a patient of rickets and could
not help his mother take care of his younger brother. Once he recovered from
rickets, he did not have skills that carried over to any profession, and hence, had
to continue doing his mother’s job of selling cotton, and earned a meagre
income. Based on this passage, answer the following:
