Primer A mist coat may be required to minimize application bubbling over zinc rich primers

Top Coats Acrylics, urethanes, chlorinated rubbers, vinyls, epoxies, alkyds, or others as recommended.

.
Dry Film Thickness 3.0 to 8 mils ( 75 to 250 microns) based on service requirements.
Do not exceed 200 microns in a single coat.
Excessive film thickness over inorganic zincs may increase damage during shipping and erection.

Solid(s) Content
Theoretical solids of mixed material by volume 80 ± 2%

Theoretical 10.66 m²/l at 75 microns

Coverage Rate
6.4 sq. m/l @ 125 microns

Apply over suitably prepared metal or other primed surface as recommended. Remove any oil or
General
grease from the surface with clean rags soaked in Carboline thinner # 2 in accordance with
SSPC SP1.
Steel
Dry abrasive blast to a near white metal finish in accordance with SSPC –SP10 to obtain a
25 – 75 micron blast profile. Acceptable power tool cleaning as per SSPC –SP3 for touch up
only.

Galvanised Prime with specific Carboline primer – Consult Carboline Technical Representative.
Steel

Previously painted Lightly sand or abrade to roughen and degloss the surface. Existing paint must attain a minimum
Steel 4B adhesion rating in accordance with ASTM D3359 (X cut adhesion test).

MIXING & THINNING

Mixing Power mix separately, then combine and mix in the following proportions.

Ratio
1 : 1 (Part A to Part B) by volume

Thinning May be thinned up to 10)% by volume with Thinner # 2 or with thinner # 33 for brush or roller
application. Thinner consumption may be higher for extremely warm or windy conditions . Use
of thinners other than those supplied or recommended by Carboline may adversely affect
product performance and void product warranty, whether expressed or implied.

6 hours at 24 Deg C and less at higher temperatures. Pot life ends when the coating looses

Listed below are general equipment guidelines for the application of this product. Job site conditions may require modifications
to these guidelines to achieve the desired results.

The following spray equipment has been found suitable and is available from equipment
Spray Application manufacturers. Keep material under mild agitation during application. If spraying stops for more
(General) than 10 minutes, recirculate the material remaining in the spray line. Do not leave coating in the
hoses during work stoppages. A mist coat may be required to prevent application bubbling over
zinc primed surfaces.

*PTFE packings are recommended and available from the pump manufacturer.

Brush and roller For small areas or touch up only.

Use a medium, natural bristle brush with full strokes.
Use a short nap mohair roller with a phenolic core.

This product simply requires the substrate temperature to be above the dew point. Condensation due to substrate temperatures
below the dew point can cause flash rusting on prepared steel and interfere with proper adhesion to the substrate. Special
application techniques may be required above or below normal application conditions.

Higher film thickness, insufficient ventilation and/or cooler temperatures will require longer cure times and could result in solvent
entrapment and premature failure. High humidity conditions or condensation on the surface during curing can interfere with the cure,
can cause discolouration and may result in a surface haze. Any haze or blush must be removed by water washing before coating.
During high humidity conditions, it is recommended that the application be done while temperatures are increasing. Maximum recoat
or topcoat times are 30 days for epoxies and 90 days for polyurethanes at 24 Deg C. If the maximum recoat time is exceeded, the
surface must be abraded by sweep blasting or sanding before the application of additional coats.

CLEANUP & SAFETY

Use Thinner 2 or Acetone. In case of spillage, absorb and dispose of in accordance with local

applicable regulations.

Read and follow all caution statements on this product data sheet and on the SDS for this product.
Safety
Employ normal workmanlike safety precautions.

In enclosed areas, thorough air circulation must be used during and after application until the
coating is cured. The ventilation system should be capable of preventing the solvent vapor
Ventilation concentration from reaching the lower explosion limit for the solvents used. In addition to ensuring
proper ventilation, appropriate respirators must be used by all application personnel.
