DRUG ADDICTION AS SOCIAL EVIL
People who are emotionally distressed utilise drugs not as a medical cure but as a way to
escape their difficulties. They use drugs to combat their isolation or reduce stress. Illegal drug
use is known as drug abuse.
They misuse any drug or naturally occurring material to make their current condition different,
regardless of the physical and mental harm this creates. Drug misuse has several negative
health problems. It includes frailty, weight loss ,respiratory conditions among the most crucial
substance abuse's negative effects include impaired judgement illogical reasoning. A drug user
experiences specific psychological issues including depression and anxiety, problems with
personality and irritability.
Some of the commonly utilised substances include LSD, ganja, brown sugar, crude molasses,
cocaine, heroin, etc. Crack is a substance that is widely used and simple to manufacture. While
some medications are ingested, others are breathed. With every puff of smoke, one inhales a
deadly combination of poisonous chemicals. Drug abuse is a major cause of liver problem,
heart attack, high blood pressure, etc.
There are several causes for why people start using drugs. Some people use it for amusement,
relaxation, or stress relief. People who start using drugs are typically either jobless or annoyed
by a social or family issue. Once begun as a pastime, it develops into a dependency. Living
without narcotics is challenging for an addict. He will do whatever to sate his desire for drugs.
An addict doesn't let go of this issue. As of now stage, he is powerless to break his habits
despite his best efforts. Severe withdrawal symptoms are brought on by drug abstinence and go
away when the drug is taken once more.
Little more than one-third of drug addicts reported receiving treatment, according to the
National Survey. It was discovered to be as low as 2% in the findings of another agency. The
reason for this is largely that few individuals consider drug usage to be a health issue. Other
reasons for not getting therapy include access to facilities and a lack of rehabilitation. Several
organisations are striving to end this societal scourge. However, they do not genuinely work for
this. They must be considerate of this issue. Additionally, more media outlets and non-
governmental organisations should step forward to raise awareness.
Broad opposition to this global evil An addict requires love and attention. Our civilization needs
to adopt a new mentality. He should receive all the help and attention possible. He should
receive a thorough rehabilitation. Our curriculum should include moral instruction. It is important
to educate society early on. Only then will we be able to defeat this evil.
