What are the phases of

photosynthesis?

By Angel b.
What is
photosynthesis?
Photosynthesis is the process by which plants, algae and
some bacteria
convert solar energy into chemical energy stored in glucose
molecules. This
process is essential for life on Earth as it produces oxygen
and is the basis of
food chains. Photosynthesis occurs in the chloroplasts of
plant cells and is
divided into two main stages: the light phase and the dark
phase or Calvin
cycle.

The light phase:
The light phase, also called the
light-dependent phase, is the first phase
of photosynthesis. Its main function is to
convert solar energy into chemical energy
and store it in ATP (adenosine
triphosphate) and NADPH (nicotinamide
adenine dinucleotide phosphate)
molecules The location of this phase
occurs in the thylakoid membranes within
the chloroplast.

The key steps for the light phase:are light

absorption, water photolysis, electron
transport, and the formation of ATP and
NADPH.
dark phase or calvin
cycle
The dark phase or Calvin cycle is the stage of
photosynthesis that does
not directly depend on light. It uses the ATP and
NADPH produced in the
light phase to transport carbon dioxide CO2 into
glucose that will serve as
energy sources for plants and other organisms.
The location of this phase
occurs in the stroma of the chloroplast.

The key steps for the dark phase are carbon

fixation, reduction,
regeneration of RuBP

Conclusion
In conclusion, photosynthesis is an essential process for life on
Earth through its two main stages: the light phase and the Calvin
cycle. Plants and other photosynthetic organisms capture solar
energy and transform it into chemical energy, providing oxygen
and nutrients to the biosphere. This process is essential for the
ecological balance and life of countless species, including humans.
