The United Nations Environment Assembly,
Deeply concerned by the report made by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), which
pledges to meet the Paris Agreement keep temperature rise below 2.5-2.9°C of a rise in temperature
above pre-industrial levels resulting a menagerie of affects, like rising sea levels and changes in weather
patterns,
Fully aware that the global average temperature for the most recent decade from 2014 to 2023, the
global average temperature has risen 1.2°C above the pre-industrial era. 2023 was considered the
hottest year on record above the pre-industrial average. The period the decade after 2011 was the
hottest on record,
Gravely concerned at the number of wildfires will rise at most 50% by the year 2100 according to the
World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) (2022) due to a drying climate caused by changing weather
patterns and a warmer world resulting record high wildfire levels, burning hotter and for longer than
ever,
Recognizing that about 1.5 billion people are now affected by droughts, it's estimated that by the year
2050 it will increase to about one third of the world population (UNCCD).
Operative:
1. Highly command Blue infrastructure, including ponds, canals, streams and shallow
pools in public areas like green park, where the water bodies would absorb heat
around them and trap heat in water vapors keeping areas cool
2. Calls to prevent heat trapping gasses reaching the fossil fuels, public air purifier poles
and stations can be built in order to purify air and prevent gas to reach the atmosphere
preventing heat trap.
3. Strongly recommended to mitigate rising sea levels and climate refugees,The UN can
buy large properties across the world in various landlocked countries or regions which
contain shelter and education for the refugees. Inorder to fund this program we can
form various fundraiser programs where people can fund
4. Commends implementing competent infrastructure such as EWS (early warning
systems) and flood walls to help adapt to this situation. This will provide immediate
relief and will be funded by developed countries.
5. Recommends the utilization of the climate action plan 2021-2025(the world bank),
financially and it supports developing countries to build climate resilient
infrastructure,and strengthens adaptation. To face sea level rising.
6. Draws attention on the fact that they should join the ‘zero emission by 2050’ treaty and
work along with the International Maritime Organization to reduce the greenhouse gas
and emissions alongside the DESA.
7. Calls for UN member states can install air purifier tanks, containing algae. And can use
algae which absorbs pollutants in the air and uses sunlight to convert them into biomass.
This reduces the concentration of pollutants in the air while producing oxygen which
contributes to improving the air quality, this will reduce greenhouse gas concentrations,
which will help reduce rise in temperatures
8. Proposes more awareness campaigns to highlight the impacts of climate change on
citizens and to promote proactive measures. These campaigns can leverage media,
educational programs, and community outreach to inform and mobilize action. This can be
achieved by local governments of different states
