4.18 - 21.26
Okay. So, we are going to be looking at the second module in the Infoware
Fundamentals series. And one of the modules – so, we start with the secon
d in line, which is the Administration module. Now, the Administration modu
le is a very important part of the application because all of
21.26 - 41.66
the parameterization, configuration, implementation, the system behavior is
largely determined by the parameters we have under the Administration mo
dule. So, this is basically just like the World Administration. It governs the e
ntire behavior of the application. So, I'm going to be stepping through some
of these parameters and just give you
41.66 - 59.86
an overview of how it does. But I encourage you to please read through the
instruction of these parameters and understand, try and experiment with th
em and see the system behavior. So, I will start with, first of all, the e -
business. Now, the e -business is the online portal. So,
59.98 - 73.26
I'm going to be doing a special work through on the online portal. But just ta
ke it as – online portal is a web portal where customer can log in. So, I will
do a work through on that portal to give you a better understanding of how i
t works. Okay.
74.46 - 90.34
So, on this, you have the online – so, on the online portal, there's a series o
f information that displays on the portal. Most times, if there's a change in a
ddress, you have to recompile the application, change stuff. Now, this ever
ything is now parameterized. So, what it means is that
90.34 - 110.96
you can change the address on the online portal without necessarily changi
ng the application. The application reads from this parameter. So, for the o
nline portal, when you want to enter your information, your contact informati
on, everything is captured here. Also, on the online portal, you have a list of
online and
110.96 - 127.56
you can basically add to that list and I'll remove from the list. Then, you als
o have notification email addresses. So, what it means is that, for example,
when the customer does a password reset online, this is the email that it go
es to. When they make a buy or sell
127.56 - 146.3
order, this is the email that it goes through. When the customer registers on
line and any other notification apart from these three. Then, also, the syste
m also generates an auto response. So, this is where you basically configur
e the auto response that the system sends when a customer makes a requ
est
146.3 - 170.96
online. So, this e -business parameter basically governs all the entire para
meter as required by the system. So, this is for e -business. So, second in t
he list is the parameters. Now, these parameters, these two are basically th
e same parameters and parameter updaters. But the difference is that para
meter updater
170.96 - 189.4
is like an Aboriginal version. This parameter updater has the entire list, but t
his is a lot more self -descriptive. So, let's use a typical example. So, I'm no
t going to step through each of these, but I'm just going to give you an exa
mple of what a parameter is. So,
189.4 - 204.62
if you look at this, for example, this is where you configure the email, right,
of a customer. So, if the application is trying to send an email, the applicatio
n needs to be able to send an email out to clients. Now, where do you confi
gure this information? So, I will
204.62 - 225.28
use this as an example. In this space, you have the email server, right? Thi
s is where you enter something like smtp .gmail, whatever, whatever. And t
hen, most importantly, you have the explanation. Now, please and please,
what I'm trying to emphasize is that the application, there are thousands of
parameters
225.28 - 244.1
on the application, and it's very difficult, except you're quite familiar and use
them much often, to actually understand the implication of this parameter.
Before you change any parameter, before you make any changes, I encour
age you to always read what the instruction, the developer's instruction is o
n the system. Now,
244.24 - 261.18
these will allow you to understand the importance of the parameter, and no
w it interacts with the system at large, right? So, this tells you, this is the em
ail server. It will be doing it. Then, once you enter the value, then you click
on Save, right? Then, the port number.
261.52 - 280.92
Now, every email requires a port number. So, if you click on the explanatio
n, it differs now, and it's telling you that this is this. It does not specify the sy
stem as Zoom25, right? So, this is also information that is required. There i
s user ID. That means, once you want
280.92 - 299.6
to send email, what is the user ID for sending the email? You can see email
user ID for sending notification and alert. And then, the password. If you ch
eck this, you also have the explanation clearly descriptive. Now, there are s
everal parameters, right?

5 – 10

0 - 20.08
need to give you the eye level. So this parameters set is basically for a lot.
So basically all the alerts in the system, if you want to configure the styling
and rendering, this is where you configure those alerts. Then you have the
application configuration. Application configuration is anything that
20.08 - 37.8
has to do with the system, the system configuration on the application level.
This is the application configuration. You have the system backup. So if yo
u want to use the system to backup data, that means generate additional d
ata so that it can publish on the FTP. This is where you
37.8 - 55.88
basically set it up. You have the email processing, like I've just made, you k
now, showing you an example where you configure the, you know, the ema
il setup. Then asset management. Now the asset management module. Thi
s is the asset management module as you can see. These are parameters
that relate
55.88 - 76.54
to the asset management module as well. You have the investment fund. Y
ou have the placements. You have the bonds. You have the bonds investm
ent. You have the EOD processing, TBO bonds and stuff. Now the CRM. N
ow this is the CRM. These are parameters that has to do with this
76.54 - 97.68
module called the CRM module, right? So this is the, this is for an integratio
n, which we did with ZO. So if the system wants to integrate with ZO CRM,
on the application, and then there's some default parameter, this is where t
he configuration is set as well. Then you have
97.68 - 114.6
customer engagement. This is for the email marketing module under the B
N dashboard. Now customers, this is, this is where you configure paramete
rs that has to do with the main theme module and it governs the behavior of
the main theme module. So for example, if you are implementing for let's
114.6 - 131.66
say Nairobi for, I mean for Kenya, you can easily come here, change the de
fault nationality type so that the system doesn't default in Nigeria and you c
an read the explanation as well. So you also have the dashboard. Now this
is the BN dashboard module where you configure the number
131.66 - 147.84
of items per screen. Now the data import is also used when you are trying t
o do the data import on this module. Use this module, it governs the behavi
or. Then you have the e -business. The e -business is the online portal and
the online portal basically have some set
147.84 - 165.96
of parameters that governs it. You have the phone transfer, that means wh
en you're doing a phone transfer, then also there are a couple of order, you
know, flutter wave, these are parameters that governs the behavior of flutte
r wave. Then equity trading. Now equity trading is basically stop brokerage
and
165.96 - 184.52
the stop brokerage basically have some parameters that default. Now thes
e are parameters relating to stop brokerage. So by the time you start to do,
how you change this parameter governs how this stop brokerage works, rig
ht? Then the custodian module. So under the stop brokerage, there's a mo
dule called the
184.52 - 200.94
custodian, which is this module. So when you check this module, basically t
hese are parameters that governs it. Then you have the fixed net trader. So
the fixed net trader is a trading platform within the system. These are the p
arameters that governs it and then you have, you know, for
200.94 - 220.08
Nairobi, these are parameters that governs the Nairobi. Then you have mar
gin trading. These are parameters that governs the margin, you know, mar
gin trading, margin setup, and stuff like that. And then the security lending.
These are also parameters that govern you. Now you have the financial par
ameters. So financial parameters,
220.4 - 239.56
this is with this module called the financial module. And these are paramete
rs that governs the financial modules. And in terms of interest monthly run,
the geo journal, the fixed asset, you know, the payables, these are basicall
y, you know, parameters that works with this financial module. Now you ha
ve the
239.56 - 256.46
global parameters. Now global parameters are parameters that are generic
and they cut across the system. They are system wide, for example, ability
for you to see diagnostics, right? Ability to disable multiple logon users. So t
his is an example, you know, where you have, you want to disable the syst
em
256.46 - 273.18
for allowing multiple logon at the same time. So you, what are the options?
What should the system do when a customer is trying to log in multiple time
s across different platforms? So this is the parameter option you have. And
you can read the explanation, right? The explanation is well
273.18 - 292.48
descriptive. Now I keep emphasizing you reading the explanation because
you're going to understand the system behavior more. Most times you don't
even know when this parameter was, the thinking behind it was the objectiv
e. So it's very, very important you read the developer's instruction so you u
nderstand what governs the
292.48 - 286.62
system and how the system is supposed to react in some certain ways. Th
en you have the HR module. Now this is for the you're going to understand
the system behavior more. Most times you don't even know when this para
meter was, the thinking behind it was the objective. So it's
286.62 - 299.98
very, very important you read the developer's instruction so you understand
what governs the system and how the system is supposed to react in some
certain ways. Then you have the HR module. Now this is for the

10 – 15

0 - 17.74
pero and HRM module. These are the parameters that basically determines
the behavior on that module. Then you have the inventory. Now, this is for t
he inventory. If you look at the inventory module, these are parameters that
works with the inventory module. Then you have the loans. Now, this is
17.74 - 36.7
the loans and lease module. These are parameters that works with the loan
s model. Then you have the mutual fund. So this is the mutual fund module
. These are parameters that works with it. Then the risk management modu
le is a standalone. It's a standalone module. Basically, these are some of
36.7 - 55.6
the parameters. For example, when you want to say disallow customer, the
y are not KYC compliant, you want to be able to say, this is the parameter.
You can also read instruction. This is instruction that says disallow this para
meter for better risk management. When you set to no and this,
56.02 - 75.36
then when you enable it, you understand the application of enabling it in the
system. Then also, there's security module. Like, for example, the applicati
on IDO timeout, which is that this is the time. This is you. Then you go to th
e system. This is your system. This is your system.
75.38 - 91.9
This is your system. Interface application and parameters. When you call it,
when you want to, you know, connection, get market data, these are the pa
rameters. You have to read it and get an understanding of what the system
does in various situations. You know, when we say implementation, what w
e
91.9 - 113.4
are usually doing is that we are trying to align the system to the individual b
usiness processes. That is how Infoware has 70 customers has been able t
o align with individual company processes without breaking or affecting oth
er customers, especially for customers that have peculiar processes. So, pl
ease endeavor to read
113.4 - 129.06
through this parameter and get a better understanding. Now, parameter of
data is the same thing as parameter you've just seen. The only thing is that
there are several more of these parameters here that some of them are not
documented in the parameters. The one documented in the parameters are
129.06 - 144.64
the most commonly used, right? And there's a reason for us to document it
and stuff like that, but you have some like drop down that here. So, for exa
mple, let's make, for example, you remember when I showed you the bank i
nformation, right? Now, let's assume you want to add
144.64 - 158.82
to the bank list or you want to edit the bank, you want to edit the bank list. Y
ou can see that this is, this is the list that allows you to update the bank, rig
ht? So, you can add to this list, you can take away from this list, but
158.82 - 175.14
you're able to manage the banks that is displayed. Now, this is a parameter
that wants to click on new. You can hide as many banks as you want and c
ustomize it to match what you want. So, for example, if a new bank comes i
n, you don't have to reach
175.14 - 188.4
out to the developers to add a new bank on your drop down list. Come here
to this parameter and add it. So, that's one of the advantages of the group
of parameter. And you also have what we call the account parameters. So,
account parameters are something that shows something.
188.6 - 203.04
So, for example, let's assume we have a default ledger type. So, let's go to
D, which is the default, what is our default ledger type. You know, some of t
he names are self -descriptive, but some of them are not. So, you have to,
you know, have an understanding of
203.04 - 218.14
it, but you can see that it's NGN. So, if you are implementing for, let's say, y
ou know, Ghana, you can change it to GHS or, you know, change the para
meter that matches your implementation. But this is some of the importanc
e of the parameter update. They acquired a number of
218.14 - 238.38
them. If you check the list, it's a long list. But as you go ahead and impleme
nt, you basically understand which parameter you need to change and whe
n you need to, you know, change depending on the circumstances and you
r implementation. So, this is the step about parameter update. So, we
238.38 - 254.2
move forward now to change the code name. So, the change the code nam
e is that there are times whereby a stock might change its name. So, for ex
ample, F4 recently, F4 changes to Adova, right? Now, the reason why it's g
ood to use this model is that the system will
254.2 - 270.48
change the name across board. So, when you are trying to effect the chang
e, you don't have to start, you know, renaming. Because if, for example, if y
ou have your protocol information in F4 and then all of a sudden F4 change
s to Adova, you don't want the system to start,
270.48 - 292.88
you know, setting up Adova, it's different format. It's the same thing that ch
anges name. So, this model is specifically used to capture the change of na
me, right? That's one. Then, you have the holidays. Now, holidays informati
on capture is very important on the system, right? The reason for that is
292.88 - 299.98
you want to be able to save some already because this is the time in the sy
stem behavior. Let me give you a case in point. Usually, the

15 – 20

0 - 16.7
system is not expected to post on an holiday, right? Because let's ask for c
ustomer that implements, you know, T plus three, and you don't want the sy
stem to be able to, you know, post, you know, a transaction on that day. No
w, how is the system supposed to know an
16.7 - 35.44
holiday different from a regular business day? So using the holiday module,
you can basically just come here and type in the holiday, you know, in this
case, let's say Good Friday and just type in the holiday and save it. Now, w
hat the system does is that when system is
35.44 - 78.34
using we have several reports. Where does it save the customer to by defa
ult? This is the involvement. The block phone is also a required system par
ameter. We'll explain the function of that on that financial module. There yo
u have the GL adjustments accounts. We'll explain that further. These are fi
nancial
78.34 - 92.54
parameters that you have to just configure. This is where the system posts
the differential. So let me give you an example. If you take 100 and vary by
three, you're going to have 33 .33. Where if you had 33 .33, add it back, yo
u can get an 100 again.
92.8 - 110.76
So that differential is basically kept in this account GL adjustment. Now, the
GL parameter is what the time is, what are far back, you know, can you pos
t? So for example, on 25th of August, if you try to post a transaction into thi
s account, the system will block it,
111.14 - 128.26
right? And this has also led to a couple of errors, you know, in the system w
hereby the system encounter error while trying to post. So this module basi
cally governs the validity and the use cases mainly. So for example, for fina
ncials accountants, they might want to log their GL and
128.26 - 144.82
say, you know what, they want to be able to log their GL so that nobody ca
n post. So let's make a typical example. They want it to be like from Januar
y, they don't want anybody to be able to post as far back as 2019. So using
this date range,
145.28 - 160.86
they are able to set the minimum date that they allow the GL to be posted a
nd the maximum date. So which means that nobody can post earlier than 1
st of January 2020 and nobody can post further than 31st December 2020.
So it's a way of ensuring that there's control
160.86 - 181.42
within the system. The financial year starts also determines the date that th
e financial year for that controller company starts. So in this case, 1st of Ja
nuary is the financial year start. The primary parameter is specifically imple
mented for customers that you know you have interest. So this would be th
e
181.42 - 206
default interest that is applied across board for customized transaction. The
n money market, this is specifically applicable to customers that do investm
ent. These are parameters applied to asset management parameters. Then
you have the system information. Now system information is specifically im
portant. When you have a situation whereby you don't know
206 - 221.06
which database you're connecting with, whether it's a test, whether it's a pr
oduction, or you're in doubt as to where the database is. This also clearly te
lls you the port number. So for example, if you're working with a customer, t
hey ask you what port number is this customer? Especially this
221.06 - 235.34
applies to on cloud customer that when you are supporting and you need to
tell maybe the administrator which port number the customer is. Now there'
s no way you can know it from the configuration file because you don't have
access to it. But by coming to the system information, you
235.34 - 258.62
can know the exact database name and the database server access and th
e port number. So this clearly gives you the information that you need to un
derstand the information about where the date application is connecting to.
Now compare geo and balances. Now there are times whereby the system
can, you
258.62 - 272.24
know, there are some balances. So in this case, this is a typical case study
where the system keeps, you know, on the system there's the geo table an
d there's the balances table. Now for performance issue, the system doesn'
t run check all the time on the geo table because you
272.24 - 289.04
could have millions of records there. So the system always run the checks
on the reason, maybe trade reversal, errors, whatever that could make the
balances table different from the geo table, right? And when you have som
ething like this, this is the red flag, you might, the implication is that
289.04 - 287.76
you might generate some reports on the system that won't be correct becau
se some reports are dependent on the balances table and might be out of s
ync with the geo table. So in order to reserve the And when you have some
thing like this, this is the red flag, you might,
288 - 299.98
the implication is that you might generate some reports on the system that
won't be correct because some reports are dependent on the balances tabl
e and might be out of sync with the geo table. So in order to reserve the
20 – 25

0 - 14.88
things like this, there's an option here where you click on Regenerate. Right
, so if you click on Regenerate Balances, now what the system will do is tha
t system will try and reconcile the balances table with the GL table, and in t
his case you can see that everything now is
14.88 - 33.26
now fully reconciled. If you generate GL balances now disabled, and if you
click on Run, everything here is fine. So that means my system integrity is f
ully in check. Then on this screen you have fixed diagnostics. Now this fixe
d diagnosis is very important. Now the reason for that is
33.26 - 48.82
that there are a couple of queries that are usually required when you're inv
estigating an issue, and sometimes we send queries to IT and you have to
resend this query over and over and over again. Now what this fixed diagno
stics works for is that it allows you to be able
48.82 - 66.86
to impute the exact, you know, let's assume you have a transaction, you ha
ve an issue with transaction ID 3450, you're able to impute the exact transa
ction ID, and you click on Send Report. Now the IT person can put their em
ail here, they can change the, you know, they can
66.86 - 84.86
send their emails, you know, put their, they can put their emails address the
re, and that determines the the emails that is received. So the advantage of
it is that they can actually, you know, send this, and once they send it to su
pport, you can forward it to the fixed
84.86 - 100.54
developers and they have all the information they need to start investigatio
n right away. So this will use the Azure of going back to write queries and g
enerates information. This is very good when you're starting out and there's
an issue with the transaction ID, you can easily advise the customer
100.54 - 134.02
to send the, to send this information to you. Then you also have the CCY ra
te. Now the CCY rate is the exchange rates information. Okay, so just a mi
nute, right? So this is the exchange rates information where you impute the
exchange rates, right? So the system is you can
134.02 - 152.42
use the application to basically manage multiple currencies. So, for exampl
e, a case in point, you can, a case in point, you can save, you know, postin
g dollars and then the system will convert it to Naira. So this is where the sy
stem keeps track of all exchange rates information per
152.42 - 167.52
day and the system uses it for multiple currencies. So you're going to be ha
ving implementation where you have to implement multiple currency on the
system, and then you have to use this module to, the user have to use this
module to impute those exchange rates on a day -by
167.52 - 187.74
-day basis. Then also you have the EBCC Y rate. So the EBCC Y rate is on
line customer. So for online customers, there's also an exchange rate wher
e customer can see the information. For example, a customer might want t
o come back, see what their balance is in dollars in euros.
187.96 - 209.56
So if you maintain this rate, customer can use this online to, once it's set up
, customer can use this rate online to know what their current, you know, va
lue is in each of these currencies. So this is specifically designed for online
customers. Now you have branches. Now branches is
209.56 - 224.5
where you create additional branch, additional company. This is where you
set it up, you click on new, you have no new code. So in this case, you hav
e this head office as legal surface, you have the branch 001, you have the,
you know, the state, and you have the,
224.5 - 241.68
you know, that's information. So this is where you keep each of this informa
tion and for each of the customers. I mean, for each of the branch available
for your customers. So this, you remember when I was showing you on the
maintain module that you can actually capture, you know,
241.78 - 258.26
the branch code which customer belongs to. So this is good for reporting a
nd for finance as well. Finance can also make appropriate, you know, deter
mination as to what each, you know, office is taking in terms of income and
expense. So this is very, very important when you are setting
258.26 - 274.02
up. And then you can only have a default. So you can show you, if you see
it, for example, there's a default here, which checks and says, okay, of all th
ese head branches, which one is the default? And then you have the custo
mer because each of them might have
274.02 - 290.06
a different address. So the reason why you have a customer information is
that you can basically create each customer for each branch and tag each
customer to each branch. So the answer is that there's a report where you
have to show the correct address by branch of the customer.
290.32 - 299.62
So that is also a flexibility that has been built into the system. Okay. So righ
t now we have the attributes.

25 – end

0.5 - 15.98
So, on the attribute screen, this is where, so if you really collect where I wa
s showing you on the maintain module, where you actually had, you know,
attributes to a customer form, so this is where you actually start the journey
from. So first of all, to create an attribute,
16.14 - 32.12
so I'm just going to make an example. So to create an attribute, so you hav
e, you have an attribute information, so let's go back and say vnuban. So y
ou create this field, vnuban, you set up the string. Now, there are different i
nformation you can create. You can create, make
32.12 - 46.58
it a date type, you know, number with no fraction, yes or no multiple string c
ombo box, but let's, for simplicity, let's select string. So you select the string
, you put in the prompt, the name, and then the description of the field. The
n you click on save, you have different
46.58 - 62.18
modules where you can apply attributes to. You can apply to in case you w
ant to say customer module. So customer module, you click this new field c
ard. Now once you click on add it to the object, now you can begin to make
the field a required field. So that
62.18 - 77.54
means that you can save the profile information unless you provide that inf
ormation or you send it to a field. Now once the system is saved, you need
to create information, you can save your information, you know, broadcast i
nformation, and that stuff like that, so you can categorize each of
77.54 - 92.24
these, your fields into the information, in this case, you need the tab that's b
eing created. And this is that when you have a tab on the customer attribut
es tab, you'll be able to select, you know, look at information there and und
erstand what the group, so based on the group,
92.28 - 111.48
you know what the items, information that is required. Then this is where yo
u have the attribute tab assignment. So attribute tab assignment means tha
t you basically select the field and it is, for example, these are all on groupe
d, these two items here, and see what it is right now.
111.72 - 130.32
So if you go back to the custom customer module quickly, and then you clic
k on, and then you click on custom attributes, right? So you're going to see
that these fields here, they don't have a tab, and that's why they are under t
he generic tab, if you check the
130.32 - 147.7
EBS account opening, you see the order information. Now the reason for th
at is that these guys here are not being grouped, so you can create another
group as a client info, and then add them to that group. So that's that. Now
there's the import screen, which means that you're
147.7 - 163.84
able to import attributes into the system. So I will have a special walkthroug
h on that later on, where we'll show you how you can import it. So let's assu
me you want to import customer being nubana, but let's say there's quite a
number of customers. You can actually use an
163.84 - 193.1
import module that will allow you to import that attribute against each custo
mer profile without having to impute them one by one. So that's the essenc
e of the import module. OK, so with that, we complete the session on the a
dministration module, which is the second of the fundamentals module. So
193.1 - 212.12
in the next module here, we basically will look at the administration and sec
urity module. So basically, we usually call it administration and security mo
dule, but it's actually a security module. So I'll just quickly step through it an
d just explain what it does. So you have the change password where
212.12 - 233.34
you. So you have the you have the so this is the security module, so in the
next section, we'll be going through the security module.
