COMMMUNICATION

Communicating with a large audience is referred to as mass communication. Mass


communication can be done through the electronic media such as radio and television or by
print like magazines and newspapers. Each of these performs three main functions namely: to
inform, to entertain and to educate the audience.

The media can only render services with the appropriate equipment and
engineers. The engineers operate the equipment to give the audience clear reception. Also,
producers and broadcasters are needed to make , transmit or broadcast programmes from
their studios to viewers and listeners. In order to attract more audience ,recorded video tapes
or interesting local programmes and feature films may be bought or borrowed from other
broadcasting authorities.

Similarly, the print media require skilled journalists and production staff .The editor
must be educated to be able to choose the most important stories sent in by reporters all
over ,edit, and write editorials. He equally responds to comments from readers. The sub-
editor, on the other hand ,is to prepare the edited stories for printing.

However, to survive, both the electronic and print media depend on paid adverts.
Advertisement generate a lot of profit for various media houses.

SUMMARY

All living things need water for life. A large percentage of the woman body is made
of water, so we need to drink water everyday. Without water, most living things will die. We
can only stay alive for sometime without water.

Water can be seen all around us. Two third of the earth surface is covered by water
in the form of oceans, lakes, seas, rivers, ponds, wells, etc, However, the main source of our
supply is rain.

Yet, most of the water around us are not safe for drinking. It is polluted by dirts
from our houses, human waste ,factory waste and even oil spillage from oil producting
companies operating in the country.

In order to make water clean enough for drinking, it has to go through the process
called water purification. This process is also known as water treatment. The water that
comes out of our taps has gone through purification process.
