Problem Statement: How does Human Resource Management contribute to the overall

performance of an organization, and what challenges does it face in ensuring that both
employee and organizational needs are met?

Having an effective Human Resource Management greatly contributes to the

organisation for it deals with the most important asset they have which is the Human resources.
What specific benefit would an organisation have by implementing an effective HRM in their
business process? The insurance company PruLife for example, implemented software system to
automate HR related processes such as Payroll, Performance Assessment, Training and
Development for their employees which could then boost the overall productivity of
organisation. Because HRM will deal personally with their employee, they could align the
employees goal with the objectives of the organisation which could then make the work
environment and experience more fulfilling and less burdensome. HRM also deals with the
training and development of their employees, those individuals that are seen potential could be
offered a training program which will be beneficial not only for the organisation but also for the
employee themselves because they will be able to expand their skills which will then be a
valuable asset for the company. Another visible benefit is through HRM, the organisation could
keep and retain skilled and valuable employees by giving benefits such as Compensations and
Promotions. Communications among the management and employees could also be improved
through feedback gathering and appraisals which could make the workplace an efficient and
effective workplace for the employees.

However, there are also some foreseen challenges with the implementation of a Human
Resource Management. An example of this is a large-scale organisation that deals with a lot
more employees and staff which will be harder to manage and requires an effective and
efficient HRM. Even though PruLife insurance company is operating here in the Philippines,
many executive positions of PruLife came from different countries so it’s not a surprise if there
are also employees from different countries. The challenge arises when they deal with
employees with differing cultural, legal, and economic environments. Managing them all
without causing bias and discrimination may rise as a concern. This problem could affect the
workplace quality for the employees themselves. Another challenge PruLife faces is keeping or
retaining talents because the insurance industry has a fierce competition, employees on this
industry tends to find the company that better provide their needs and companies do their best
to attract talented individuals even though they are already employed in another company. This
could be solved if the company implemented an effective feedback mechanism in their process
so that they can monitor the needs and concerns of their employees so that they can retain
their employees.
