Basement
Take a photo of stairwell landing, then landing to basement.
Take a photo of handrail OR showing a missing handrail.
Stand in one corner, aim camera towards opposite upper corner. (photograph as much
of the ceiling and wall as possible)
From same corner, aim camera towards opposite lower corner. (photograph as much of
the floor and wall as possible)
Stand in another corner on the same wall and take a general room photo.
Take these same photos of every room in the basement.
Mechanical Systems
Plumbing
Take a photo of the sump pump. First photo should be approximately 10 feet away. The
second photo should be of inside the sump pump crock showing the condition of the
sump pump. Remember to check if the sump pump works!
Take a photo showing the entire water heater(s) from the bottom to approximately 2
feet above the top of it.
Take a photo of the laundry sink showing the entire sink.
Take a photo of the water meter or where the mater water meter should be.
Take a photo of the plumbing supply lines around where the main 4” stack is.
Take 3-4 additional photos trying to show as much of the plumbing supply lines as
possible. Take close-ups of any damaged or stolen areas of the plumbing.
Furnace
Take a photo showing the entire furnace and as much of the duct right on top of it,
while standing approximately 10 feet away. Take photos of any stolen or damaged ducts
or any uncapped gas lines.
Electrical
Take a photo of the breaker panel(s).
Take photos of any stolen or cut wiring.
Take photos of any loose or disconnected wiring.
Whatever you’re doing, always check for mold, theft, structural damages, water leaks and
stains!
