ABSTRACT

Bullying has been a critical issue in school for decades. It is a blustering, browbeating

it aims to determine what kind of bullying do they experienced and their coping mechanism. The
respondents of this study were students who suffered bullying at Landy National High School.

The sample consisting seven (7) students, six (6) students from grade 7 and one (1)
student from grade 8. There were five (5) or 71% of the respondents suffered physical bullying,
felt sad, and just ignore their classmates in order to cope with their bullying experiences. On the
other hand, there were four (4) or 57% of the respondents still join with their friends to prove
that they are not affected, however, there were two (2) or 29% of the respondents suffered
labelling, felt annoyed, and fight back against their classmates to prove that they are not weak,
while three (3) or 43% of the respondents chose to be alone. The research instrument is the
descriptive method where the researchers used self- administered questionnaire in the form of
checklist and interview.

This study recommends to the future researchers to determine the positive effects of
bullying to one’s emotion and social life, similarly, this study entrust to the teachers to evaluate
the result of the study.

Students affected by bullying primarily reported feelings of sadness and annoyance. To cope, some students chose to ignore their classmates, others continued to join social groups to prove resilience, and a smaller percentage opted to fight back to defend themselves against labeling. Some students preferred solitude as their coping mechanism .

Bullying is categorized into physical and labeling forms. Effects on social lives include isolation, with some students choosing to be alone, while others try to maintain social ties despite bullying, to show they are not affected. The study highlights the struggle between wanting to fit in socially and feeling compelled to respond to bullying .

Personal experiences, such as feelings of sadness and choices like fighting back or isolating, inform the study's conclusions that bullying has significant emotional effects. These experiences highlight the emotional strain and the varying coping strategies that reflect individual resilience and vulnerability .

Students who experience labeling reported feelings of annoyance and some resorted to fighting back, indicating an attempt to defend their self-worth and reject the imposed negative identity. This reflects a resistance to being classified as weak or inferior by their peers .

The primary research method used was the descriptive method, utilizing self-administered questionnaires in the form of checklists and interviews. This method was chosen to gather detailed information on the types of bullying experienced, their emotional effects, and students' coping mechanisms .

The study entrusts teachers with the responsibility of evaluating research outcomes to better understand the effects of bullying. It implies that parents should also be aware of these impacts as stakeholders in supporting and educating their children about handling bullying situations .

The study recommends that future research should focus on determining any positive effects of bullying on emotions and social life. This suggests exploring how overcoming bullying experiences can foster resilience or social skills, thereby broadening the understanding of bullying beyond negative impacts .

The most common form of bullying experienced by students at Landy National High School is physical bullying, with 71% of respondents reporting it. To cope, 57% of students try to continue joining their friends to show they are unaffected, while 43% choose to be alone. Additionally, 29% of respondents who suffer from labeling fight back against their classmates to avoid being perceived as weak .

The study recommends that future researchers explore the positive effects of bullying on one's emotion and social life. It also suggests that teachers should evaluate the outcomes of such studies to better understand and address bullying in schools .

Students face challenges in proving their resilience by either confronting bullies directly or maintaining social ties to demonstrate that bullying does not affect them. These challenges complicate their social interactions, as students juggle between asserting their self-worth and managing perceptions among peers .
