CHAPTER- 1
ASSERTION AND REASON BASED QUESTION
Directions: In the following questions, a statement of assertion (A) is followed by a statement of reason (R).
Mark the correct choice as:
(a) Both assertion (A) and reason (R) are true and reason (R) is the correct explanation of assertion (A).
(b) Both assertion (A) and reason (R) are true but reason (R) is not the correct explanation of assertion (A).
(C) Assertion (A) is true but reason (R) is false.
(d) Assertion (A) is false but reason (R) is true.
(e) Both assertion (A) and reason (R) are false

1) Assertion: 15 is the composite number.

Reason: 15 is odd number.
Ans : (b) Both assertion (A) and reason (R) are true but reason (R) is not the correct explanation
of assertion (A).

2) Assertion: Every rational number is an integer.

Reason: 3/5 is not an integer.
Ans: (a)Both assertion (A) and reason (R) are true and reason (R) is the correct explanation of assertion (A).

3) Assertion: √2 is a irrational number.

Reason: it can not be written in the form of p/q.
Ans: (a)Both assertion (A) and reason (R) are true and reason (R) is the correct explanation of assertion (A).

4) Assertion: Decimal expansion of every rational number is only terminating.

Reason : Decimal expansion of every irrational number is terminating recurring
Ans: (e) Both assertion (A) and reason (R) are false

5) Assertion: every rational number is written in the form if p/q where p and q are integers, q=0
Reason : 7√3 is a rational number.
Ans: (e) Both assertion (A) and reason (R) are false

6) Assertion: 10/3 is non terminating Decimal expansion .

Reason: the remainder of non terminating Decimal expansion is never be zero.
Ans: (a)Both assertion (A) and reason (R) are true and reason (R) is the correct explanation of assertion (A).

7) Assertion: the real number is either rational or irrational.

Reason :√7 is a rational number.
Ans: (C) Assertion (A) is true but reason (R) is false.
