CURRICULUM CONTENT, STANDARDS, AND LESSON COMPETENCIES

A. Content The learner should have demonstrates understanding of subtraction and multiplication of whole numbers up to
Standards 1000 including money.

B. Performance By the end of the quarter, the learners are able to is able to apply subtraction and multiplication of whole
Standards numbers up to 1000 including money in mathematical problems and real-life situations.

C. Learning M2NS-IId-34.3
Competencies The learners
 Performs orders of operations involving addition and subtractions of small numbers.

D. Learning At the end of the lesson, the learner should be able to:
Objectives  Demonstrate a clear understanding of the symbols "+" and "-" for addition and subtraction.
 Recognize that operations inside parenthesis must be performed first, according to the order of
operations (PEMDAS).

IV. TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCEDURES

Before/Pre-Lesson Proper

Activating Prior Good morning class I’m your Teacher Lara, how are you today? Verygood!
Knowledge
Are ready to our lesson for today class?

Motivational:

Today we’re gonna watch about the addition and subtraction song, but before we watch I want everyone to
be listen and sing if you want.

Now after the video we play a litte game, I have a cups with number on it and paper with equations, and you
will put in these cups what you think is the correct answer.

Lesson Clearly state the goal of the lesson.

Purpose/Intention
 Addition and subtraction are related operations. Subtraction is the inverse of addition.

Lesson Language Present the materials that has post on the board related the numbers and sign of ”Additon (+)” and
Practice “Subtraction (-)”.

 Addition (+)
 Subraction (-)
 Combination of Additon (+) and Subtraction (-)
 Operations according to PEMDAS
Read aloud what is on the board, and then the students will read and understand it.

During/Lesson Proper

Reading the Key Asking students if they are eating apples. Tell on the students about the story about apples.
Idea/Stem
Summer is the season of mangoes, and Ben has a tree in their backyard with lots of mangoes since it's
seasonal. Ben decided to pick 20 pieces of mangoes since his friends are coming to their house. Since he pick a
lot he gave on his neighbors 4 to Linda, and Ben surprise when he’s friend Baste gave bought 5 mangoes.

Question:

1. What is the total of mangoes Ben picked?

2. After giving to his neighbors, how many mangoes does Ben have?
3. How many mangoes Ben give to Baste and Linda?
4. What is the of 20 – 4 + 5 =?
5. What operator sign we use for subtraction and addition?

Developing
Understanding of Create a 2 Groups for the activity. Give the 2 Groups a small board to answer the questions. (5 minutes)
the Key Idea/Stem
After/Post-Lesson Proper

Encourage the students to share their knowledge from the lesson.

Question:

Addition and subtraction facts that use the same numbers form a fact family. Facts of the same family are related. For example, the
digits 3, 4 and 7 form a fact family because of the following:

4+3=
7–3=

Evaluating Learning

In performing operations involving addition and subtraction, you will calculate it from left to right.

9-5+6–3=n

To calculate grouping symbols or symbols inside the parenthesis, we must first perform the operation inside the
group or the parenthesis.

29 – (5 + 6) = n
Additional Activities Read and analyze the following statements.
for Application or
Remediation (if 1. Subtract 15 to 75 then add 120.
applicable)
2. What is the sum of 125 and 115, then subtract to 350?
3. What is the difference of 176 and the sum of 62 and 14?
