THE RENAISSANCE:
WHAT IS THE RENAISSANCE?
The Renaissance was a brief period in European history, but it was the
revolution that was necessary to move from the Middle Ages to the
modern world . It was filled with new philosophies and art, architecture
and inventions, and new governments and churches.
WHERE AND WHEN DID THE RENAISSANCE ARISE?
The Renaissance began at the end of the 13th century, first in literary
and painting, and developed fully from the 14th to the 16th century,
extending to multiple arts and also to science. Its periodization depends
on the country, reaching until the beginning of the 17th century in some
of them.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENTIAL STAGES OF THE RENAISSANCE?
There are two differential stages: The quattrocento, which corresponds
to the first stage of the Renaissance, during the 15th century, and the
cinquecento or second stage, which took place during the 16th century.
LITERATURE OF THE RENAISSANCE:
Renaissance literature revolved around humanism and, as in other arts,
recovered myths, motifs and classical Greek tradition. Idealized love, the
search for knowledge as a way to truth, reason, logic, ethics and politics
were important topics that gave rise to great works.
Renaissance literature was widespread thanks to the invention of the
printing press and was born under the influence of three great
predecessors: Dante Alighieri, Francesco Petrarca and Giovanni
Boccaccio.
