10000 Floor Elevator
Part 1: Initial 10 sketches & evaluation
Sketch 1
Description:
1st Press floor number
2nd Scan QR code
3rd Check in the app the information about
the lift trip and estimated time. Depending on
the stops the arrival time would vary
4th Inside the elevator floor and stops
programmed. The number of stops would
update as more people call the elevator
Pros:
● You know how long will it take you to get to the desired floor in real time
● You know how many stops will the elevator do
Cons:
● No coordination of upwards-downwards lift trips and so it can lead to inefficiencies
and longer trips
● If you don’t know the building, you won’t know what floor would you need to go to
● No safety indications regarding the weight limits or similar
Sketch 2 (addition to Sketch 1)
Description:
1st App: search for the location where you
want to go in the building. Result: Floor
number
2nd press in the elevator panel the floor
where you are going towards
3rd App: scan QR to get trip information (floor
and estimated time)
Pros:
● We fix the problem of not knowing where to go with the App solution

Sketch 3
Description:
1st Search floor number in app
2nd You search arrival time and based
on machine learning mechanism it will
tell you what time to leave
3rd you have the option of booking a
timeslot or not
4th you have available statistics of the
rush hours or similar to decide what
time slot suits you better
5th Once you arrive to the elevator you
can scan a generated code of your
reservation. People with reservation
will have preference
6th Scan the code of your reservation
when you enter the lift, that will generate the overview of your trip. This will also inform the lift
of the floor where you will stop
7th The inside lift panel informs you the floor number where you are, number of stops and
number of people
Pros:
● It will shorten the waiting time at the door of the elevator, allowing more planning
● It gives priority to people who often visits the building and/or are familiar with the
booking system
● It gives you information on the peak times to help you make your decision
● You can search the floor in the app
● Weight control
Cons:
● Too much information available about the way the lift works can overwhelm the users
● Visitors may have a bad user experience because of the priority given to the booked
● Reduces good experience of improvised lift trips
● If you haven’t booked the trip initially no option to track your trip
● No coordination of upwards/downwards trips to save time
● Elevator would prevent blocked entrances by people trying to enter and leave

Sketch 4 - Worst idea
Description
Regular elevator setup with floor number button in
the lobby and an infographic with where is what.
The elevator would also have the option of
introducing the floor number inside
Pros:
● Low development costs
Cons:
● Inefficiencies caused by people changing
trip direction once its already inside the lift, that
would cause a lot of delays
● Searching where to go could cost more
time than the actual lift trip
● Lack of planning
Sketch 5
Description:
1st Search location in the lobby
panel
2nd It will tell you which lift to
take based
3rd Panel will generate a QR to
track your trip
4th Check information about the
trip in the app - waiting time and
inside the lift
Pros:
● Elevator panel has a technology to assign best elevator for each trip. This would
lower the waiting time
● The panel informs you about the floor where you are going and the lift you need to
take
● You can track how long will the trip take, this information is personalised
Cons:
● Having only one panel would cause fights in the lobbies
● People may forget which floor and lift was assigned to them by the panel
● You only know how long will it take once you are in the lift. Therefore, you can’t plan
well your timings

Sketch 6
Description:
1st Floor schedules available in the floor lobby and building website. The elevator is
scheduled to leave at those times
2nd There is also available information regarding average time of going one floor up or down
3rd Inside the elevator you can press stop when you want to stop and you can see how
much time will it take arriving from current floor until the top. That will be constantly updated
Pros:
● Predictable and allows you to plan
● You can guess approximately how long will it take you to arrive to the top
● Low technology costs
Cons:
● If one trip gets delayed the whole schedule goes wrong
● Average time can be very different depending on the moment of the day
● If there is only one elevator the time slots would be very long
Sketch 7
Coloma Molla Dalmau
Description:
There is different number of lifts starting the journey at different floor levels, some going up
and some going down. This should allow some spread and lower waiting time. You check in
the app which floor is the right one and waiting time.
Pros:
● Having several elevators in different levels and in different directions should help
coordinating
● You find your way in the app and track your trip
Sketch 8
Description:
You have different panels in the people to serve more people at the time. Inside the elevator
you have a list with names of the people who needs to stop in each floor. If you are still far
from your destination your name won’t appear.

Coloma Molla Dalmau
● It would allow to serve several people at the time without them having to download
any app
● The panel gives you information on which lift to go to and destination floor
● You know when can you enter
● The panels allow to control capacity
● The panels would allocate different trips efficiently
Cons:
● Panels would still have limited capacity
● Having a crowded elevator my cause issues in visibility of the information panel
● If you are still far you don’t know how long will it take you to arrive to the destination
User stories - Reflection on the required criteria
● User should easily find what's their d estination floor
● There should be several elevators allocated in different parts of the building to
provide to serve all the potential users of a building of 10000 floors
● The lift trips should be allocated in the mosttime-efficient way based on origin floor
of the person, destination floor and current elevator direction
● User should be able of estimating upfront the required time depending on the
moment of the day
● The lift should incorporate some capacity tracking in order to allocate the trips
appropriately and avoiding technical problems
● User should be aware of expected arrival time
● Users without their own device should also be able of finding their way to the
destination floor
● Users using the elevators on a regular/daily basis should be able to travel faster
● The lift shouldn't be transporting people going upwards and people going
downwards simultaneously, in order to avoid time inefficiencies
● The elevator shouldn't stop in all floors unless some people wants to enter or
leave in order to avoid inefficiencies
● The elevator should be stopped in one floor the minimum amount of time
● The technology should prevent people going in the wrong floor in order to avoid
unnecessary trips
● The technology should prevent waiting lines to use the elevator panels and
waiting the floor
● There should be regular service of the elevator
● There should be fast solutions to technical problems of the elevator
● The elevator should prevent health crisis of users during the trip: asphyxiation
feeling, freshness, seats
