Welcome to the Diploma Programme updates, the new name for Coordinator’s Curriculum review
notes. The name change has been introduced as a result of feedback from Studies in language and literature

important information for the whole International Baccalaureate (IB) community. Language acquisition

Digital assessment transition

The IB is well underway with the process of transitioning DP and Career-related
Programme (CP) external assessment examinations to a digital environment. We
understand that change in assessment modality affects everyone, therefore,
we are easing into this transition thoughtfully, and collaborating with the IB
community to ensure a smooth shift from paper to digital examinations.
The initial phase focuses on converting our existing paper-based examinations
into a digital format, ensuring that the aims and objectives of each subject
assessment remain unchanged. The digital examinations will closely resemble
their paper counterparts, with students interacting with test items on-screen
and responding through a different method, whether selecting answers
digitally or typing their responses. This approach ensures that we maintain the
integrity and comparability of our assessments throughout the transition.
The current plan for the transition timeline is outlined as follows.
• May 2025: The first set of digital specimen examination materials will be
released for language and literature, and language acquisition subjects,
available in English, French, and Spanish.
• May 2026: A small number of selected IB World Schools (IBWS) will
participate in the initial live digital examinations.
• November 2026: Digital examinations will be made available to all
IBWS. Schools can choose to gradually transition by opting for digital
examinations or continuing with paper-based examinations.

The Exhibition Game: TOK in the World is an interactive

classroom game designed to help prepare students for IA
in their theory of knowledge (TOK) course. The focus of the
game is how TOK manifests in the real world.
Teachers and students work together on simulations of the
exhibition with a scorecard adapted from the exhibition
assessment instrument.
This resource is now available in English, French and Spanish.

Game overview
The aim of the exhibition game is simple: students work in
small teams and create an exhibition by picking three objects
from a gallery of object cards that relate to an IB prompt (a
knowledge question).
The objects should exhibit how TOK manifests in the world
by highlighting the knowledge issues in each.
