1. A phrase or clause between subject and verb does not change the number of subject.
e.g. The women in that new red car were bored
2. Indefinite Pronouns as subjects, each, nobody, anyone, everyone, everything, someone-
SINGULAR
several, few, both, many-PLURAL
some, any, one, all, most-SINGULAR or PLURAL
e.g. Nobody is perfect.
Few students are lazy.
Some of your hair falls.
3. In compound subjects joined by or/nor, the verb agrees with the subject nearer to it.
e.g. The director nor the actors are following the lines.
4. There are subjects that are singular despite of having S.
e.g. Billiards is my favourite ball game.
5. Years, amount, weight, temperature, percentage are treated as singular
e.g. 100 degrees of temperature is the boiling point of water.
