Common orientation:
On August 19, 2024,the common orientation was
held at the A-Block Quadrangle. students and
parents gathered for the Common Orientation
Program at A-Block Quadrangle. Our Principal set
the tone with a thought-provoking speech,
emphasizing the importance of rules and
regulations in shaping our academic journey.

Department-wise orientatin:
The department-wise orientation program was a
valuable opportunity for our Head of
Departments (HODs) to share his opinion about
out department. They offered insightful advice on
what to expect after completing our first degree,
breaking down the semester exam structure,
benifits of chosing our department, and
recruitment processes of fortune 500 companies.
Our HODs and PCs also reveald what companies
expect from us and how we can bridge the gap
between academic knowledge and real-world
applications. They stressed the significance of
acquiring additional knowledge beyond the
curriculum, highlighting the importance of
certifications in enhancing our employability.
We were truly inspired and motivated by their
speeches, We will show our gratitude to our
HODs and PCs for their valuable advice and
guidance, which will help us navigate our
academic journey with confidence.
Following the inspiring speeches of our HODs and
PCs, our seniors presented a video clip
showcasing the exciting opportunities and
experiences offered by the National Cadet Corps
(NCC). They encouraged us to participate in NCC
programs, emphasizing the valuable skills and
values that can be gained through this enriching
experience. By joining NCC, we can develop
leadership qualities, teamwork spirit, and a sense
of national pride, while making a positive impact
in our community.

Day 2 (20.8.24):
 Physics
 Chemistry
 Maths
 UHV student aspirations

Physics
Our physics teacher, Dr. Vasanthraj, began the
session by introducing himself and providing an
overview of the syllabus that we would be
covering in preparation for our upcoming
acadamic year. To ensure we were well-prepared,
he also conducted a comprehensive review of the
key concepts and topics we had studied in Class
11 and 12, helping us to reinforce our
understanding and bridge any gaps in our
knowledge.
The topics discussed includes:
 Kinematics: the study of motion and its
description
 Thermodynamics: the study of heat,
temperature, and energy transfer
 Electricity: the study of electric charges,
currents, and circuits
 Magnetism: the study of magnetic fields and
forces
 Wave and Ray Optics: the study of light, its
behavior, and its interactions with matter
As he reviewed these topics and chapters, I felt a
sense of familiarity and confidence. Having
studied these subjects earlier. Moreover, his
comprehensive overview provided a wider
perspective, allowing me to connect the dots
between different concepts and deepen my
knowledge.

Chemistry
Our chemistry teacher, Dr. R. Sabarinathan,
delivered an engaging lecture that effectively
highlighted the significance of chemistry in
Electronics and Electrical Engineering (EEE). He
skillfully addressed many un-relavent taughts we
had about the relevance of chemistry in our field,
by showcasing its numerous applications of
chemistry in electronics he cleared all our
misunderstandings . Dr. Sabarinathan then
outlined the topics we would explore throughout
the academic year, providing insightful
explanations of their practical implications and
real-world significance. Notably, his in-depth
discussions on QLED technology and nanoparticle
dynamics were particularly impressive. He also
shared his remarkable achievements and
academic credentials, inspiring us with his
expertise. Overall, this session was an
informative, enjoyable, and his class will have a
long lasting impact in us.

Maths
Our Mathematics Professor, Dr. D. Subalakshmi,
started the session by reviewing the concepts we
had studied previously and outlining the topics
we would cover in the current academic year.
She then provided a comprehensive explanation
of the Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) and its
workings, ensuring we understood how our
academic progress would be evaluated.
Additionally, Professor Dr.D. Subalakshmi
clarified the exam structure, clearly explaining
the intermediate exams we would write leading
up to the final exam, which helped us prepare
and stay on track. She also shared us the
valuable insights into the marking system,
emphasizing the importance of effort and
dedication in achieving academic success.
Professor Dr.D. Subalakshmi motivated us to
strive for excellence and set realistic goals for
the year ahead.

UHV student aspirations


the UHV Student Aspirations session was an
engaging interactive session was facilitated
between we junior and our senior students. Our
seniors from EEE (regular) graciously addressed
numerous queries we had regarding the subject
and campusrules and regultions, providing
valuable insights and clarity. The session further
blossomed into a lively self-introduction exercise,
where we shared personal anecdotes and
interests. Our seniors also enthusiastically shared
their experiences and achievements in various
clubs and organizations. To culminate the
session, they led us on a comprehensive campus
tour, helping us navigate and familiarize
ourselves with the different facilities and blocks
within our college.

Day 3 (21.08.2024):

 E-waste management

SU clubs
The Students Union Club (SU Club) was
thoroughly discussed by Dr. S. Karthikeyan at the
New Admin Block. In that session, Dr. S.
Karthikeyan enlighten the students with
discussing about Students Union Club (SU Club)
at our college. He elaborated on the diverse
range of clubs and associations that cater to
students' interests, fostering a holistic learning
experience.
The session covered industrial visits, foreign
exposure, and placement opportunities with
renowned companies. Dr. Karthikeyan also
highlighted the significance of student projects
and the activities of clubs and associations in
enhancing skills beyond the curriculum.
He informed us about the selection process of
the Student Chairperson and Co-Chairpersons,
emphasizing the importance of leadership and
teamwork. Moreover, Dr. Karthikeyan stressed
how participation in clubs and associations helps
students develop essential life skills, such as
discipline, communication, and collaboration.
The clubs includes
NSS, NCC, YRC, GLF, Tech-Music, Nature club,
Quizz club, Astronomy club, Tamil Mandram,
English literature club, Animal welfare club,
Radio hub and etc…
these clubs helps students unlock their full
potential and become well-rounded individuals,
ready to make a positive impact in their chosen
fields.

Authentic learning
Dr. P.V. Mohan,Secretary of TQM PSG institution,
delivered an unforgettable session, offering
valuable guidance on tackling real-life problems.
The main key concept he discussed was the
importance of ego control, highlighting its crucial
role in our lives. He emphasized that ego can be
a significant obstacle to effective teamwork and
personal growth. Dr. Mohan discussed the
challenges we face and provided practical
solutions, including strategies for managing team
debates, reconciling diverse perspectives, and
resolving conflicts that arise from differing ideas
and opinions. He shared tips on handling
conflicts, such as recognizing and managing
emotions, particularly anger and guilt, as they
are temporary phenomena. Dr. Mohan also
beautifully illustrated how to overcome ego
clashes with others, embracing diverse thoughts
and a willingness to learn. He stressed the
importance of expressing ourselves in complete
sentences instead of single words, promoting
clear communication. Moreover, he emphasized
the significance of understanding others'
perspectives, situations, and feelings. Dr.
Mohan's excellent presentation on ego control
highlighted its negative consequences and
taught us how to overcome ego-related issues,
enabling every student to work effectively in a
team and become a good citizen. Interestingly,
he also mentioned the importance of knowing the
meaning of one's own name, a valuable insight
often relevant in campus interviews

CBCS
Dr. A. Shankar delivered a comprehensive
overview of the Choice-Based Credit System
(CBCS) in the New Admin Block, empowering
students to make informed decisions about their
academic journey. He stressed the significance of
regular attendance, emphasizing its crucial role
in qualifying for semester exams in each course.
Dr. Shankar also delved into the concepts of redo
courses, backlogs, and redemption, providing
clarity on these important aspects of the CBCS.
Furthermore, he outlined the requirements for
earning an academic degree, ensuring students
understood the necessary steps to achieve their
goals.
A key highlight of the session was the
explanation of professional elective courses and
open elective courses. Dr. Shankar highlighted
the benefits of taking additional open courses,
showcasing how they can enrich students'
learning experiences and broaden their skill sets.
To help students excel, Dr. Shankar provided
guidance on pursuing the prestigious B.E.
(Honours) degree. He explained the credit
system, detailing the number of credits required
for each course, and empowered students to plan
their academic pathway with confidence.

E- waste Management
Ms. Abarna and Ms. Soumiya led an informative
session on e-waste management, focusing on the
growing concern of electronic waste generation.
Ms. Abarna delivered a compelling presentation,
shedding light on the alarming rise of electronic
waste (e-waste) and its devastating
environmental consequences. She defined e-
waste as discarded electronic devices, such as
phones, computers, and appliances, which pose a
significant threat to the environment due to their
toxic chemical content. The core of her message
emphasized the crucial importance of adopting
the 3Rs: Reuse, Recycle, and Reduce. By
implementing these strategies, we can
significantly minimize e-waste and mitigate its
harmful effects on our planet. Ms. Abarna
stressed that responsible e-waste disposal
practices are vital to prevent pollution, conserve
natural resources, and promote a healthier
environment. By embracing sustainable e-waste
management, we can contribute to a more
environmentally conscious future and ensure a
better world for generations to come.
Ms. Sowmiya followed with a fascinating
presentation about her company, TechHazard,
and its pioneering role in e-waste management.
TechHazard's mission is to responsibly recycle
electronic waste, promoting a healthier
environment and sustainable future. Their
innovative process involves collecting e-waste
from customers for a nominal fee, dismantling
the devices, and shredding each component. The
extracted metal particles are repurposed as
fertilizer for plants, while the polyethylene
particles (plastic) are used to lay roads.
TechHazard's commitment to reducing electronic
waste and promoting recycling is truly inspiring.
Their approach not only helps mitigate the
environmental impact of e-waste but also creates
valuable resources from discarded materials,
showcasing the potential for a circular economy

Joyful learning
Mr. N.C. Nandagopalan's session, 'Joyful
Learning,' delved into the importance of finding
happiness in the learning process. The
presentation was rich in Tamil phrases and Vedic
words, creating a unique and immersive
experience for the audience.
Things that were discussed
 Focusing on studies and mastering mind
control
 Understanding the advantages of a joyful
learning approach
 Exploring the five கோசங்கள் of the human
being:
1. அன்னமய கோசம் (Physical body)
2. பிராணமய கோசம் (air we breathe )
3. மனோமய கோசம் (Mind and mentally)
4. விஞ்ஞானமய கோசம் (realization of
reality)
5. ஆனந்தமய கோசம் (self-control)

Mr. Nandagopalan sir's insights were both

guidance on how to cultivate a joyful approach to
learning and personal growth.".

இலக்கியமும் வாழ்வியலும்
The session 'இலக்கியமும் வாழ்வியலும்'
(Literature and Life) was delivered by the
renowned Tamil Pulavar BD. Palanisamy at the
Alumini Hall, IM Block. With his eloquent speech
and poetic flair, he emphasized the significance
of education in shaping our lives, weaving in
numerous Tamil phrases that resonated deeply
with the audience. His recitation of poems and
Thirukkural was particularly impressive,
showcasing his mastery of Tamil literature. The
session was a nostalgic treat, as Palanisamy
Pulavar's recitation of Tamil Kuralas and
traditional songs we learned in school brought
back fond memories, and it was a pleasure to
revisit and re-appreciate their timeless wisdom.
Palanisamy Pulavar shared engaging stories and
anecdotes about Bharathidasan and
Mahabharatham, drawing valuable lessons from
them that are still relevant today. He stressed
the importance of staying focused on studies,
emphasizing that education is the key to
unlocking one's potential and achieving success.
Through his inspiring words and examples,
Palanisamy Pulavar provided valuable advice on
how to become a better student. He encouraged
the audience to cultivate a love for learning, to
be curious and inquisitive, and to strive for
excellence in all aspects of life. His message was

about nurturing one's character, values, and
principles.

UHV Peer Preasure


The UHV Peer Pressure session, led by Professor
Dr. C. Maheshwari, was a profoundly relatable
experience for all students. A pivotal takeaway
from this session was the importance of
prioritizing lasting fulfillment over fleeting
pleasures. By focusing on long-term objectives,
we can avoid the pitfalls of complacency and stay
on track to achieve true happiness. Moreover, Dr.
Maheshwari eloquently emphasized the
significance of education in shaping our lives,
highlighting its power to unlock our potential and
drive success. Additionally, the session provided
valuable guidance on how to resist the influence
of external pressures from our surroundings,
teaching us to stay true to ourselves and our
goals. Her inspiring teaching style resonated with
everyone, helping me distill my future
aspirations. She also shared valuable insights on
securing placements and highlighted the
excellence of our EEE department. This session
was truly remarkable because its relatibility.

Chemistry
Dr. R. Sabarinathan provided a comprehensive
overview of the topics we will be covering
throughout the academic year. He thoroughly
explained each subject, including corrosion,
polyethylene, and other key areas of focus.
Additionally, he detailed the lab activities we will
be undertaking, ensuring we understand the
practical applications of the concepts we will be
learning. To reinforce our understanding of the
academic expectations, Dr. Sabarinathan also
reviewed the examination structure and the
marking scheme, emphasizing the importance of
earning a strong score in academics.

Day 5 (23.08.2024)
 Foundation day

Books are best friends


The 'Books are Best Friends' session, led by Dr. J.
Chelladurai and Dr. S. Karthik, was a
comprehensive orientation to the Dr. GRD
Memorial Library, a treasure trove of academic
resources at our college. This iconic library,
named after the visionary founder Dr. GRD,
boasts a vast collection of over 2,00,000 books,
1000 journals&magazine, and varity of digital
resources. The session showcased the library's
extensive features, including the first floor's
impressive array of new magazines and journals,
the second floor's digital access hub with
computers providing seamless e-book access,
and the third floor's online courses and
resources.
We learned about the library's lending policy,
which allows students to borrow up to six books
at a time using their ID, with a nominal daily
charge and late return penalty . The library also
features an innovative recommendation system,
enabling students to suggest new book titles for
acquisition. This session was instrumental in
educating us on the rules and regulations
governing library usage, including proper book
handling, return procedures, and consequences
of non-compliance.

Through this session, we gained a deeper


understanding of the library's capabilities and
how to leverage its resources to enhance our
academic journey. We discovered the library's
vast network of books, databases, and digital
resources, empowering us to make the most of
this valuable academic resource. With its state-
of-the-art infrastructure, vast collections, and
user-friendly services, the GRD Memorial Library
is truly a hub for knowledge and learning,
supporting our academic pursuits and fostering a
culture of excellence.

Day 6 (24.08.24)
First Aid Awareness
Program
The Alert Golden Army NGO team conducted a
life-saving session on handling Golden Hours, the
critical period immediately after an emergency or
injury. The session began with a Google Form
quiz to assess participants’ knowledge, followed
by a detailed explanation of the answers.
The team defined Golden Hours as the short time
window, ranging from 3 to 15 minutes, during
which prompt action can significantly impact
saving a life.

Things need to be followed at Golden Hours


1. Providing Basic Life Support
 Clear the crowd to ensure a safe
environment
 Allow the person to breathe freely,
regardless of consciousness level
 Avoid sprinkling water, which may obstruct
breathing
 Tell someone in crowd to call the
ambulance.
 Try figure out how is the victim either
concious or unconscious.
 Perform 30 compressions per minute to
maintain blood circulation and oxygen
supply
2. Physical Injuries
 Avoid lifting the victim to prevent further
injury
 Console and stabilize the injured part with
a strap or bandage
 Don’t mobilization them without their will
3. Managing Bleeding
 Avoid using cotton, which can exacerbate
the situation
 Use tape and medicine, followed by a layer
of cotton for comfort
 Elevate the injured area to reduce bleeding
4. Rescuing a Choking Person
 Adults: press the V-point on the chest
 Babies: hit the back and drag to dislodge the
block.

The session also addressed the challenges faced


by quick responders, including:
Avoiding Wrongful Actions: Taking the right steps
to prevent further harm or complications
Legal Issues: police officer are not ment to ask
anything to the quick responders
Hospital Issues: admission procedures,
documentation, and communication are not
necessary to be done by quick responders
The Alert Golden Army NGO's first aid and
awareness session left an indelible courage,
awareness, and knowledge that empowers us to
act in emergency situations. With renewed
confidence, we're now equipped to respond to
critical situations, making a meaningful
difference in our communities. By acquiring these
skills, we've become potential lifesavers, poised
to positively impact our communities. The
session's lasting impact will inspire us to spread
awareness and promote a culture of lifesaving,
creating a safer and more compassionate world."

Conclusion
our induction program was a transformative
experience that equipped us with invaluable
knowledge, skills, and courage to make a positive
impact. Over six days, we learned about the
importance of Golden Hours, providing basic life
support, and addressing challenges faced by
quick responders. We also gained insights into
various subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Maths,
and more. Our department-wise orientation
program was a valuable opportunity to
understand what to expect after completing our
first degree. We were inspired by our HODs and
PCs, who shared their expertise and emphasized
the significance of acquiring additional
knowledge beyond the curriculum.
We explored various clubs and associations,
including SU clubs, NCC, and more, which cater
to students' interests and foster a holistic
learning experience. We learned about the
Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) and its
workings, ensuring we understood how our
academic progress would be evaluated.
Our sessions on joyful learning, literature, and
